How to install Netgear R6230 AC1200 wireless router using a wireless device:

If you do not have a desktop to install your Netgear wireless router for the first time, you can also use your wireless laptop, smartphone, or tablet to get the job done. You simply need to connect your smart wireless device to the preset wireless settings of your Netgear AC1200 router then configure the device for a secure and powerful internet connection.

  1. Firstly, connect the Ethernet cable from your DSL (Digital subscriber line) or cable modem to the internet port of your Netgear R6230 WiFi router.

  2. After that, turn on your DSL or cable modem and wait for some time for the lights to become stable.

  3. Then, turn on your Netgear WiFi router and wait for a couple of minutes for the LEDs to become green.

  4. Connect your device (computer or laptop) to the SSID (network name) of your Netgear wireless router and enter the passphrase or network key.

  5. Open a web browser on your connected device and enter routerlogin net into its address bar.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions given on Netgear Genie to configure your Netgear router with great ease.

Now, the Congratulations page will display. Here, you have to click on the option “Take me to the Internet”. It will confirm whether you are connected or not.

To configure your Netgear R6230 WiFi router using AC1200 web user interface:

  1. Unplug your existing modem and your Netgear router’s power cords.

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem to the internet port of your Netgear R6230 AC1200 WiFi router.

  3. After that, connect an Ethernet cable from your desktop or laptop to any one of the LAN ports of your Netgear wireless router.

  4. Reconnect the modem power and wait for LEDs on it to become stable.

  5. After a couple of seconds, reconnect the power of your Netgear R6230 router and wait for a few minutes for the power light to turn solid green.

  6. Pull up an internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (Netgear router’s default IP address) into its address bar and press Enter.

  7. Router login window will appear.

  8. Enter your Netgear router’s default login credentials.

  9. Click on Advanced and select the Setup Wizard option.

  10. Then, select Yes and click on Next.

Note: Now, the Setup Wizard will automatically detect the internet connection. It might take a few minutes to finish the Netgear router setup process.

  1. Once the Netgear wireless router setup has finished configuring the internet connection, a Congratulations page will display.

  2. At last, click on “Take me to the Internet” option to check your internet connection.
