SAT stands for scholastic Aptitude Test.  SAT is basically a standardized test widely used for college admissions in United States. It was debuted by the College Board in 1926. SAT is totally owned, developed and published by the College Board, a private, non-profit organization in the United States. It has two sections: evidence-based reading and writing in math. It comprised of two tests, one focused on reading, and one focused on writing and language. The math exam is comprised with two components in a single test. A non-calculator portion and a calculator allowed portion. SAT also includes an optional ESSAY.

Sections of SAT:

SAT contains four sections:

1)            Reading

2)            Writing

3)            Math (calculator and non-calculator portion)

4)            ESSAY (optional)

More about these following four sections is given below:

Reading: 52 multiple choice questions will be given, the times allotted for this portion is 65 minutes. Questions based on literature, historical documents, social science etc.

Writing: 45 multiple choice questions will be given, the times allotted for this portion is 35 minutes. This portion contains grammar, vocabulary etc.

Math: 58 multiple choice questions will be given (broken up into 20 questions in non-calculator section and 38 questions in calculator section). 80 minutes for non-calculator section and 55 minutes for calculator allowed section. It contains Algebra, Geometry, and some trigonometry.

ESSAY portion is completely optional.

Eligibility for SAT exam:

Basically, there are no specific eligibility criteria for SAT. For students, the best exam for giving SAT exam is when they are in 10th and 11th class. It is basically taken by high school student. Basically, there is no age limit for SAT examination. Students take coaching classes for their exam preparation. SAT exam fees:

The organization publishes an official calendar for SAT exam dates and deadlines, and the test is generally scheduled on Saturdays. Internationally the test comes in October and January months. College Board sets the International SAT dates and deadlines for every year.

In India, the SAT exam fees is around 6200-7000 INR. The basic fees for the exam is $52, till now. But varies based on country of applicant.
