Laser resurfacing is the treatment to remove facial wrinkles and irregularities in the skin like scars and blemishes. The Skin Resurfacing technique applies a short pulsating beam of higher concentration at the irregular portion of the skin. It precisely does the planning of the skin by layer basis. It is a beneficial procedure known as LA abrasion.
Why Laser Resurfacing?
If your face has fine wrinkles or any irregularity around the eyes and forehead, then you must choose Skin Resurfacing.
If your skin consists of more acne or you have darker skin, don’t go for laser resurfacing. It is also less effective for stretch marks. You should have a brief discussion with a dermatologist whether this resurfacing technique is right for you.
How Does Skin Resurfacing Work?
The two laser beams are commonly useful for Skin Resurfacing. Those are CO2 laser beam and erbium. Both vaporized the skin pigments from the surface level.
1.CO2 Resurfacing: It is the method used over several years to resolve many skin issues like wrinkles, scars, oil glands on the nose, etc.
The latest version of CO2 laser includes the short-pulsed and high-speed light energy with a continuous beam to scan the skin surface to remove the delicate inner layers with preciseness so that minimum damage takes place.
2.Erbium Resurfacing: Erbium Skin Resurfacing elegantly erases surfaces of buried lines with wrinkles on our face. It also removes the wrinkles on hand, nose, chest, or neck too. The maximum benefit you may expect from this method as there is less burning damage to the nearby tissues of the affected area. You don’t have to endure the common side effects like swelling, redness, etc. occurred by other conventional techniques. Hence the recovery is expectable at a faster rate compared to CO2 resurfacing. The maximum expected recovery time limit is only one week. Ask your therapist how long it may take for you. For the people with darker toned skin, Erbium resurfacing is better choice.
How To Prepare For Laser Resurfacing?
Have a consultation with a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon about your Skin Resurfacing. Make sure about the choice of doctor who has required training and experience in laser resurfacing. The doctor will show which resurfacing may work for you after checking current health, medical history, etc.
Tell the doctor if you have any existing diseases or on-borne allergy issues. Laser resurfacing is a critical therapy for those people who are in the worst condition.
If you have decided to proceed with Skin Resurfacing, you are strictly bound not to have medicines that may affect clotting. Make a note not to have medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E – for 10-15 days before the surgery.
You should become conscious about smoking, too, as it enhances the prolonged healing issues after the laser treatment. Hence try to stop two to three weeks of smoking before undergoing any laser resurfacing.
The doctor will prescribe some antibiotic medicine before to hinder any upcoming bacterial infection after the treatment.
What Is Done During Laser Resurfacing?
It is a very long procedure. The procedure may take individual treatment of the wrinkles to bring out the fresh look for you. For some areas, a local anesthetic can do the trick. In case of complex surgery, you also get anesthesia.
For partial treatment, it is half an hour’s task, while for full-fledged treatment; it is two hours to hold your patience.
Following the treatment, the treated area gets banded. Starting one day after surgery, you must take conscious attention towards it as you should clean the affected area for four or five times. Then apply an ointment like petroleum jelly not to form scabs from it. Even you may get impacted by swelling for which you should take doctor recommended steroids. Put the ice pack to reduce swelling. These all concepts you have to adopt for skin treatment.
