- Start with hydration and a wholesome breakfast:
Keep your body hydrated; drink enough water before starting a trek. Water keeps the mind cool and fresh to kick start the trek. Go to the washroom before starting the trek so as to lose any extra water that is bloating your body unnecessarily. In case of foods, start with breakfast, while eating 2 bananas, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of buttered toasts. This makes for a great way to start fueling yourself before the trek. Don’t over eat as this may cause disturbances and heaviness before you start the trek. Avoid consuming dairy products as they are dense and increase the heaviness of the stomach.
- Pack for the during:
Try and induce liquid diet for during the trek. One must be light while on a trek at all times (except at night before resting). Take along packaged smoothies that are fresh and good for the body. Since carrying whole fruits will be a task. Smoothies work a great way to provide nutrition while not taking up too much space and weight in your rucksack. Apart from that, carry packaged cured meats and dry cheese. These are a great way for hen you feel empty in the stomach and must definitely eat something. Also they save time as compared to sitting down for a whole course meal for lunch. After the trek for the day is done, eat a wholesome meal that is both nutritious and fulfilling. Your body needs all the nutrition it can get before resting for the next day’s trek. Eating a full meal which includes, lentils, vegetables, rice, bread and some fruits in the end is a simple and a very nutritious diet to end a trek with. Avoid the consumption of alcohol, as it swells the muscles which have already gone though a lot of workout in the day.
