Formula E also is known as ABB FIA Formula E is a motorsport championship where Formula E series cars are used for the race. The series was devised in 2011 in Paris by Jean Todt. The Formula E cars are electric cars which derive power from one or more electric motors. These cars are open-wheeled which means the cars are designed with wheels outside the car’s main body and have only one seat. These cars are specially designed for the racing purpose and to take part specifically in the FIA Formula E Championship.

Regulations

Currently, twelve teams consisting of twelve drivers each take part in the FIA Formula E Championship. The Championship is generally held in temporary city centres with the street circuit where the endings of the road are closed to form a loop. The length of the road generally ranges from 1.9 to 3.4 Km. The Racing Simulator hire in built-in Formula E series cars are used.

Race Day Format: The events generally begin with two practise sessions, one lasting for 45 minutes, and the other one lasting for 30 minutes. Drivers are provided with two cars which are reduced to one after the introduction of Gen2 cars for the 2018-2019 series with higher capacity. The qualifying session takes place after the practice sessions, which last for about one hour where the drivers are divided into four groups, and each group is expected to set their best lap within the given six minutes. The race generally lasts for 45 minutes plus one lap. The maximum power is limited to 200kW. The link-up system is maintained by the Racing Simulator Hire.

Point Scoring: Top ten drivers are awarded points as 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 following the standard system of FIA. The driver acquiring the pole position is awarded an extra 3 points. Additional points are awarded to the driver who sets the fastest lap. The final season score depends upon both the driver’s and team’s score.

Fanboost: Fans are allowed to vote their favorite drivers and the winning drivers get additional advantages.
