CA is one of the reputed courses in India, even though it is the dream of many to become a Chartered Accountant. ICAI has implemented Direct Entry Route w.e.f. 1st August, 2012. That’s why ICAI has given two ways for pursuing CA course in India

  • CA can be pursue after clearing 12th Exams
  • It can be pursued after doing Graduation or Post Graduation.
  • Students who have cleared the Intermediate Level of ICSI and ICWAI.

In this article we will tell you how to become CA after Graduation or Post Graduation and CA after Graduation Course Details. This is also called the Direct Entry Scheme in CA.

Eligibility for CA Course after Graduation

If any student want to CA course after Graduation, he/she have to fulfill below mentioned conditions-

  1. Students who have cleared their Graduation or Post Graduation from commerce and secured minimum 55% or more are eligible.
  2. Students who have cleared their Graduation or Post Graduation from other than Commerce and secured 60% or more are eligible for pursuing CA.
  3. Students who have passed Intermediate Level of Institute of Company Secretary of India and Institute of Cost Accountant of India.

After fulfilling the above mentioned conditions, students can register themselves for CA Intermediate Exams on provisional basis with proof of cleared the Graduation or Post Graduation Exams. 

Procedure for How to Pursue CA after Graduation or Post Graduation

Step 1- Students need to register themselves to BOS for Intermediate level.

Step 2-  Before starting their practical training, students need to complete their 4 weeks of ICITSS 

Step 3- After completing the 4 weeks ICITSS, get yourself registered for the 3 years of practical training.

Step 4- After completion of 9 months of practical training, then students are eligible to appear in CA Intermediate Exams for both Groups.

Step 5- After clearing CA Intermediate, students should get register for CA Final.

Step 6- Students need to complete their remaining 2 years of training before appearing in CA Final Exams.

Step 7- Appear in CA Final Exams, clear it, and become member.

Duration of CA Course after Graduation-

Generally when students pursue CA after 12th, it takes a minimum of  Four and half years (4.5 years) to become a Chartered Accountant.

But any student who pursues CA after Graduation or CA after Post Graduation, it takes a minimum of  Three years (3 years) to become a CA through Direct Entry Scheme.

As such there is no duration of completing CA Course and becoming a Chartered Accountant as ICAI has removed the limit on Number of attempts and on Age.

Percentage required for CA after Graduation

Students who do CA after Graduation need to attain a minimum of 55% if they done their graduation in Commerce or minimum 60% required if they have done their graduation in non commerce.

Fees for CA Course After Graduation and Post Graduation

Students who are registering for CA after Graduation and Post Graduation through direct entry scheme needs to pay the required fees for registration for CA Intermediate level.
