Lamination is a process that protects the papers from normal wear and tear and spillages. You can easily laminate your books at home as it provides a new cover to your book that keeps it more attractive and durable. Parents who want to laminate paper, projects, papers and other material at home should know that there is no rocket science behind the laminating machine. Even the modern technology of laminating introduces release paper lamination machine which makes the laminating process easier and quicker. There are many reasons behind that paper lamination like discoloration and prevent quick aging of paper. The step of the laminating process without a laminating machine is mentioned below for better understanding:

Prepare the paper:

For laminating the paper, firstly take the paper that you want to laminate. Take the measurements of the paper and cut the laminating paper out according to the measurements, add an extra one inch each side. To show the exact size, you need to make markings around the paper. Then peel off the laminating paper to place the sticky side on the paper. You can laminate with and without a laminating machine, it depends on the pressure you need to laminate the paper. If you do not have a laminating machine at home, you can laminate your document without a laminating machine as well.

Laminating pouch:

Laminating pouches are plastic cover folders, their three sides are sealed and only one is opened to every document. These pouches are used in laminator machines usually, but you can use these laminating pouches at home to laminate with the help of home iron. The simple steps as mentioned below:

  • You need to open the unsealed side of the pouch and place your document in the center of the laminating pouch. Always double-check the alignment and placement of the paper.
  • On a flat surface like any table or ironing table, place the laminating pouch with the document inside.
  • Put a thick fabric like a towel over the pouch to protect it carefully.
  • Iron over the laminating pouch, make sure that iron should be on medium heat.
  • Cover all the sides of the laminating pouches by the iron for approximately half a minute. The heat from the iron melts the plastic layers of pouches together that encases the paper.
  • Then check the paper that has it covered from all sides.
  • If any area is remaining, you can iron again over it, but always make sure that you put the thin towel between the laminating plastic pouch and the iron.
