Although shaving is a quick and simple method to have smooth legs, it is not a good option for many people. It comes with many disadvantages also such as hair grows pretty fast, leaving visible spots, ingrown hair, razor burns, and more. So, if you are looking for smooth legs at home but without shaving, then waxing can be a great option. Let’s discuss the process of waxing at home and what you will need to do it:

Collect Your Materials

  • You can find a waxing kit at any departmental or beauty store. The kit should have wax, a stick to apply the wax, and wax strips. Remember to buy the best wax strips for legs. Anything of low quality that is used on your skin can damage or irritate it.
  • You will also need quick access to gas or stove to heat the wax. Or you can buy a wax heater for the same.

Prepare the Skin For Waxing

  • Ensure that the hair on your legs is long enough to do waxing.
  • Ensure that you do not have any scrapes, cuts, sunburn, or damages on the legs. Pulling hair from damaged skin will make it worse.
  • Clean the skin using a mild soap and then dry your legs completely.
  • Use a loofah, body scrub, or shower gel to remove dead skin.
  • Put your legs in lukewarm water for 10 minutes.
  • Moisturize your legs using a lotion.

Warm the Wax

  • Wax is generally available in the market with microwave-safe containers. If it does not comes with that you can get a wax heater.
  • Follow the heating instructions give on the wax box.
  • Wax that is heated properly should have an easily-spreadable and soft consistency.
  • Make sure that you don’t overheat it.

Find Your Hair Growth Direction

  • To remove the hair entirely without leaving ingrown hair, check the direction of your hair growth. On legs, hair growth is downward.
  • So, apply the wax on your legs in the downward direction and pull the strips in the upward direction.

Apply Wax

  • Apply the warm wax in a thin layer using an applicator stick.
  • Apply in the direction of your hair growth.

Put the Removal Strip

  • Place the wax removal strips on an area that is a bit smaller than the wax strip.
  • Now rub your hand on the strips and remove the strips with pressure in the opposite direction of your hair growth.
  • Do it firmly and quickly. If it is pulled slowly, hair and the product may be left behind.

Reheat the Wax As Required

  • If you are a first-time, the procedure may take a long time. You will do it faster with practice.
  • If the wax becomes hard to spread, you can reheat it until it gets its ideal consistency.

Moisturize your Waxed Skin

  • Soothe your Skin. Wash your legs with a mild soap again and spread moisturizer on them.
  • If you are having some irritation, you can apply an ice bag over the waxed areas.
