Windows keyboard shortcuts allow you to create special characters and symbols that are not commonly available on standard keyboards. One of these symbols is the heart symbol. You can insert the heart anywhere within your Microsoft Outlook email message, regardless of the version of Outlook you are using. The shortcut works in other programs as well, such as Notepad and Microsoft Word.

Instructions

1 Open Microsoft Outlook. Click on “New” and choose “Mail Message.”

2 Enter the recipient’s email address in the “To:” field and enter the message and subject of the email.

3 Click where you want to place a heart symbol. Make sure the text cursor is in the correct position.

4 Hold down the “Alt” key on your keyboard. While holding the “3” button on the numeric keypad to the right of the “Alt” side, press. The heart will appear immediately. If not, press “Num Lock” on the right numeric keypad and try again.

How to make heart symbols on Facebook

Instructions

1 Type “<3” – without the quotes – in the status or comment box. Press ENTER. “When you post your update, Facebook turns the text into a heart symbol.

2 Activate “Number Lock.” Press the “Alt” key and the “3” key on your keyboard’s numeric keypad at the same time. Release the keys to insert a heart symbol.

3 Type “” as a comment or in your Facebook status update field to add a heart symbol. Do not use quotation marks.

 

 

How to make a heart symbol with a key

Many people love to add little symbols and signs when corresponding with other people on the computer. However, if you don’t have the Wing Dings font (the heart symbol is “Y”), you may think that writing a heart is not possible. Instead of typing “<3” as your heart, you can learn that there is a super easy PC and Mac key combination that will allow you to type a heart in any text.

Instructions

Pc

1 Place your cursor in the text or email box where you want your heart to be typed.

2 Press and hold “Alt” on your computer. The Alt key is on either side of the space bar.

3 Press “3” while holding down the Alt key. A small heart will be written on the screen. Go to Step 4 to write the heart on a message wall (like Facebook or MySpace).

4 Type “” (without the quotes) on your keyboard to create the heart.

Mac

5 Place your cursor in the text or email box where you want your heart to be typed.

6 Click “Edit” on the toolbar.

7 Select “special characters”.

8 Click “Miscellaneous” on the Category screen. Select a heart – there are several to choose from.

9 Click “Insert” to insert the heart into the document or text field on the computer.
