Netgear Orbi replaces the existing WiFi router’s signals and connects to your high-speed modem. But you need a modem with this smart WiFi system. Netgear Orbi CBR40 works easily with your existing modem or gateway.

You can setup Netgear Orbi Cable modem router and satellite either using the Orbi app or with a smart WiFi-enabled device.

To set up and activate your device using the Netgear Orbi app:

  • Download and launch the Orbi app.

  • Visit orbilogin-net.net.

  • Follow the on-screen prompts.

To set up Netgear CBR40 AC2200 Orbi cable modem router and satellite with a WiFi-enabled device:

  1. First of all, collect your ISP (Internet service provider) account information such as your mobile number, username, password, account number, etc.

  2. If you are replacing your existing modem that is currently connected in your home WiFi network, unplug your old modem and plug in the new one into a working power source.

  3. Using a coaxial cable to connect your Netgear CBR40 device with your modem. Make sure that both the devices are receiving an uninterrupted power supply.

  4. The power LED on your Netgear Orbi router will light solid blue. If you don’t see any LED on your device, restart your device by simply pushing the on/off button.

Note: For Netgear Orbi AC2200 setup process, the LEDs on your device should be stable otherwise you might face configuration issues.

  1. Connect your device to the Orbi’s WiFi network.

  2. Open a web browser.

  3. Enter orbilogin.net or Netgear Orbi IP address in the browser’s URL bar field. To prevent Netgear Orbi login issues, do not use the internet browser’s search bar field.

  4. Type in your Orbi’s default admin details.

  1. Make sure to sue the correct details to access the Orbi login page

  2. Use the latest and updated version of the browser.

  3. Clear cache and browsing history from your internet browser.

  4. Close all the tabs.

  5. Restart the device you are using.

  6. Log in again via another browser.

Note: Go to the Advanced section – set up security questions and change the default admin details of your Netgear Orbi router (recommended). Also, ensure to place your Netgear Orbi in reach of your existing modem.

The satellite’s ring LED will light white while your satellite attempts to synchronize with the cable router. Then, the ring LED will light one of the following colors for a few minutes and then turn off:

Blue: Is color light indicates that your Orbi device successfully synced and the connection between the satellite and cable modem router is good.

Note: A Solid blue light is important for a successful Orbi AC2200 setup.

Amber: This color light means that the cable modem router and satellite are successfully synced and the connection between your cable modem router and satellite is fair. So, in order to fix this, move the satellite near to your cable modem router.

Magenta: A magenta color light indicates that your cable modem router and satellite failed to synchronize with each other. To prevent the issue, consider moving your satellite closer to your cable modem router and try again later.

Note: On the off chance, if the ring LED lights magenta for about 2-3 minutes, don’t panic. Simply press the Sync button on the cable modem router and after that, on the satellite. In case, the satellite syncs with the cable modem router, then the satellite’s ring LED will light white. The ring LED will lights blue which indicates a good connection and then turns off.
