Your baby boy will need lots of clothing within his first few years. As a parent, it’s essential to know how to shop wisely and efficiently for his clothes. You will receive many gifts which will include toys, clothes and other essentials when your baby is a newborn. However, for his first few months, you will need to add these gifts with some useful items, and also have a complete wardrobe including every size for your baby.

Know What Your Baby Needs

Baby outfits vary in size. It’s usually sized according to months but also considers your little boy’s length, weight, and developmental phase. You should know where and when to shop because this can save your money and assure that your little one has all the outfits he needs to be well-dressed and comfortable.

Newborns

The newborn, also considered as the layette phase of a baby’s life, has some particular clothing requirements. This phase is generallydenoted by the first 0-3 months of your newborn’s life. Below are a few important items for your baby boy. You should shop for these items for his layette phase.

  • Onesies –Onesies can be short or long sleeves depending on the season. You’ll need about a dozen onesies.
  • Pants – Soft knot pants are very cozy for babies. Two or three sets of knit pants areavailable. You can match it with your onesies.
  • Gowns and sleepers – Your little boy will spend his maximum time in gowns and sleepers. You will need about a dozen of these. Depending on your personal choice, you can choose sleepers that snap or zip up the front. Gowns are usually open at the bottom so it’s easy to change diapers.
  • Socks – Buy six or seven pairs of socks for your baby. Your baby boy might facetrouble controlling his body temperature, so his toes might get cold at this phase. A pair of socks will do the job.

Many other items are nice but not essential. These include lovely coordinated baby boys clothing, rompers, booties or baby shoes for his feet, and bathrobe sets.

Older Babies

Your baby will sleep less and play more.He will still need a pair of comfortable clothes after his newborn phase. His clothing requirements will change to play outfits. This is a fun phase since you can dress your little boy in all sorts of cute outfits. You will need the following items in each size(typically 3-6 months, 6-9 months, and 9-12 months):

  • Onesies – You will need about ten short-sleeved or long-sleeved onesies, depending on the time of year.
  • Pants or shorts – Your little boy will need at least six to nine pairs of pants or shorts, depending on the climate.
  • Sleepers – Your infant will wear sleepers at night, so you will need about eight sleepers for one week.
  • Socks – Since he will learn to move, crawl and walk, you will need to cover his feet with socks. Buy at least nine pairs of socks.
  • Outerwear – Your baby will need a snow or winter suit and snow pants if you live in an area with cold winter and a light jacket if you live in an area withwarmer winter, spring and fall.
  • Hats and accessories – You will need a winter hat for cold weather and a sun hat for hot weather.
