About Us
Paroa Hotel – On April 10th 1954, Hanmer and Bernadine (Corrie) Monk arrived at The Paroa Hotel from the Bealy Hotel with their first son Bernie who was 3 months old. Paroa Hotel was renowned around the West Coast for exceptional food and hospitality.
The laws at the time meant that you had to be closed at 6pm Monday to Saturday and no trading on Sunday. Sometimes these rules were bent to accommodate West Coasters thirst, a secret knock at the door allowed you to enter, and often the local police would call ahead to ensure the premises was empty before they arrived.
This legendary hospitality was continued by Bernie and his brother Winston until 2012 when Bernie’s children, Alan and Olivia carried over the tradition. Often you will see the whole family, Bernie, Kath, Olivia and Alan offering the genuine West Coast hospitality that Ham and Corrie offered 65 years ago.

GUEST ROOMS
Paroa Hotel’s Greymouth accommodation is the newest in town. Recently renovated to a very modern standard. We are only minutes drive from Greymouth. Our units are very spacious and have high quality fittings and modern bathrooms. Our TV’s have Netflix and Sky with free unlimited WIFI in each room. You can also relax on your balcony in the garden surroundings.

A super king bed with compact kitchen, modern furnishings and excellent ensuite bathroom. This room has a sliding door that opens up to a balcony which faces towards a garden area.
EXECUTIVE ROOM
This is a one bedroom unit with a contemporary design. It has a full kitchen area and a lounge with leather lounge suite. There is a balcony area for outdoor flow over looking a garden area.
ONE BEDROOM SUITE
This newly renovated one bedroom has two super king size beds and a small dining area & full kitchen with microwave & stove. There is a balcony for outdoor enjoyment.
TWO BEDROOM
This two bedroom unit is newly renovated accommodation. Both bedrooms have super king size beds, with high quality linen & modern furnishings. Kitchen area has cook tops, microwave, refrigerator, toaster and kettle, also a dining table and chairs.With superb outdoor flow
BUNGALOW
is a 3 bedroom house. 1st bedroom has a queen bed, 2nd has 2 singles & 3rd has queen & single bed. Large bathroom with spa-bath & shower. Full kitchen & lounge. Washing machine & dryer. Balcony for outside flow
