The early Kentucky Derby 2020 Live odds list Tiz the Law as the 7-2 favorite to win the Run for the Roses. Other 2020 Kentucky Derby contenders include Belmont Stakes entrants Dr Post (15-1) and Sole Volante (25-1), as well as Triple Crown newcomers like Honor A.P. (5-1) and Authentic (8-1). Before making any horse racing predictions, you’ll want to see the latest 2020 Kentucky Derby picks from SportsLine’s Jody Demling.

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling enters the 2020 Kentucky Derby on a major heater on his horse racing picks. He has the picked the winner in six straight races: the Saudi Cup, Gotham Stakes, Rebel Stakes, Louisiana Derby, Florida Derby and Belmont Stakes. At the Belmont, the first Triple Crown race of 2020, Demling called Tiz the Law the class of the field and he pulled away for a convincing victory.

This is the same handicapper who hit the Oaks-Derby double at Churchill Downs nine times in the last 11 years. That means he held a ticket with the winners of both the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby all but twice in his last 11 tries. Anyone who has followed him is way up.

Now, Demling has released his early 2020 Kentucky Derby picks, predicting where every horse will finish. He’s sharing all of it at SportsLine.

2020 Kentucky Derby expert predictions
One surprise: Demling is fading King Guillermo even though Juan Carlos Avila’s horse won the Tampa Bay Derby and finished second in the Arkansas Derby. The Juan Carlos Avila-trained horse was runner-up to Nadal in the Arkansas Derby and was eligible to compete in the 2020 Triple Crown after a late $3,000 payment. Owner and former MLB All-Star Victor Martinez opted to keep King Guillermo out of the Belmont Stakes.

A three-year-old son of Uncle Mo, King Guillermo appears safely in the 2020 Kentucky Derby field based on his 90 qualifying points and No. 5 ranking on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. King Guillermo’s victory in the Tampa Bay Derby, in which he defeated Sole Volante by 4 3/4 lengths, came following a layoff of more than three months. However, Demling believes King Guillermo’s four-month layoff is “not ideal” and doesn’t recommend including the horse in your 2020 Kentucky Derby bets.

Another shocker: Demling is high on Cezanne, even though he’s a 30-1 long shot in the latest Kentucky Derby odds 2020. He’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The $3.65 million purchase is loaded with potential and has the advantage of being trained by the legendary Bob Baffert.

Baffert has trained five Kentucky Derby winners, including Triple Crown winners American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018. Baffert won’t be in the Triple Crown conversation this year after two of his top contenders, Nadal and Charlatan, both had to drop out of the Belmont due to injury. But Cezanne is one of his 2020 Kentucky Derby contenders to keep an eye on after he won what Demling called a “dazzling” race in his maiden at Santa Anita on June 6, so confidently back him in your 2020 Kentucky Derby bets.

How to make 2020 Kentucky Derby picks
In addition, Demling is high on a double-digit long shot who benefits big-time from the Kentucky Derby 2020 being moved to September, saying this “late developer” could win it all. He’s only sharing which horse to back, and his entire projected 2020 leaderboard, here.

Which horse wins the Kentucky Derby 2020? And which double-digit long shot is a must-back? Check out the latest 2020 Kentucky Derby odds below, then visit SportsLine to see Demling’s picks for the 2020 Kentucky Derby, and find out.

The Coronavirus pandemic that swept across the Globe in the early part of 2020 had a serious effect on sporting events worldwide and the Kentucky Derby was no different. The possibility of racing on the traditional first Saturday of May was deemed highly unlikely very quickly and plans were underway to move the date of the Run for the Roses until a later date in the hope that the virus would have died down and spectators would be able to be in situ at Churchill Downs.

On March 17 it was confirmed that the race had been postponed and a new date had been fixed for Saturday 5 September 2020. That weekend was agreed to because of the lack of other sporting events that week, the NFL is still a week away from starting and college football is in Week 1, also known as Cupcake Week for most big teams. The race is scheduled to go off at 3PM Eastern Time.

Extra races would be added to the Prep season and NBC would still televise the event as it was one of the few weekends available where they didn’t already have Notre Dame football locked into their schedule. That weekend the Fighting irish play Navy in a game that is away from home for Brian Kelly’s men so therefore NBC do not have the rights to show the game.

Since the new date was announced news has come out from Churchill Downs that a limited number of spectators will be allowed into the venue for the big race along with all the supporting races, including the Kentucky Oaks which has now been scheduled for Friday 4 September 2020.

This isn’t the first time that the race has been pushed back in the Horse Racing calendar but as things stand, a return to the first Saturday in May is on the cards in 2021.
