What tools do SEOs prefer to use to track their analytics? The JDN interviewed French SEO professionals and compiled their responses. Here are the results.

No SEO strategy without tracking tools. But which ones to choose from a plethoric offer? To answer this question, the JDN wanted to know which tools were winning the favor of professionals registered in its directory of SEO . We presented them with a list of tools divided into five categories and developed with the help of Vincent Lahaye, web analytics consultant. And asked them to rank the tools in each category in the order of their preference by assigning them a rank, 1 being the preferred tool. They also had the opportunity to comment on their choice. In all, 120  SEOslent themselves to the game. The results for each tool present the average calculated from their rank (1,2,3, etc.), when the referencer assigned them one. The lower the score, the more referrers have put it in their favorites. The comments come from the comments collected in the free responses.

Analytical Tools Provided By Search Engines

Among the tools provided by search engines, SEOs showed a preference for Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Many people appreciate the completeness of the first. “Many advanced configurations are possible,” said one respondent. Others highlight the “user centric” aspect of the data provided by the tool. The fact that this data is “directly from Google” is, moreover, in the eyes of several SEOs a guarantee of reliability. Finally, some point out that this tool is essential because used by the entire SEO community, it is therefore as a benchmark that they acclaim it.

The Search Console is also appreciated by many SEOs because it is easy to use and provides information “directly applicable to SEO”. In a comment, it is described as “the health record of a site”, filled with data coming directly from Google robots and allowing “to see the site from his point of view”.

 

Charging Speed Analysis

The loading time has become an important criterion in the technical SEO optimization of sites. French SEOs have therefore got into the habit of closely monitoring these performances. The GTmetrix and Webpage Test tools obtained the highest tied score. SEOs appreciate their free access, ease of use and the amount of data they provide. On the other hand, most of those who put this tool in first place find it very complete.
