Driving miss margarita
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, this film tells the affectionate story of friendship between an older Jewish woman in the 1960s and her African-American driver over a 25-year period. The kinship that develops between these two strong personalities is unlikely at first, but over time each one realizes that they have more and more in common. The woman played by Jessica Tandy teaches her driver, Morgan Freemen, how to read. And in return, he teaches her how to grow old. The movement is moving and moving.
Beaches
Beaches is considered by many to be the best best friend greek movies. It is the story of an enduring friendship between two women played by Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. This is the dramatic story and the final misfortune of two women who decide to throw all caution in the wind and embark on a spontaneous road trip. In the movie, these two are more friends than best friends. Both girls work hard but have had a series of broken relationships throughout their lives. Played by Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, these two friends encounter some unfortunate turns during their vacation that seem to parallel the events of their lives. It’s not exactly a feel-good movie, but it looks at the challenges women face throughout their lives with an unexpected and exhilarating ending.
The notebook
This is a wonderful and moving love story for life. It tells the story of a young man and woman whose romance stops when they are separated by war. The two meet later in life and are given a second chance. The best thing about this movie is that it is told looking back from the perspective of the now older man who reads to a friend. The film features Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands and James Garner, whose love for each one stands the test of time.
