How to Watch Academy Awards 2021 from Anywhere Regardless of where you will be, you are qualified to watch Oscars 2021 live. In opposition to the geo-limitation strategy, we’d share the technique to sidestep the limitation. How many hours do the Oscars last? Typically, the show runs about three hours. Since it’s taped live, however, the exact length is different each year. With no host for the second year running, our guess would be that Oscars 2020 will last about three hours. Set your timer for 11 p.m. (Okay, 11:15 p.m. — let’s be realistic.) When is the Red Carpet fashion live? The Red Carpet fashion will start live at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT on Sunday, April 25 at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. Will there be Oscars in 2021? The Academy had moved its annual telecast back two months to April 25, 2021. Sources inside the Oscars say that by pushing the awards ceremony back, the Academy hoped that theaters would be open again in the spring, thus allowing for more movies to compete in the annual celebration of the year’s best films. Will the Oscars be virtual? Oscars 2021 to be ‘in-person telecast’, will not be held virtually – Variety. (Reuters) – The Oscars 2021 will not be a virtual event and will be organized traditionally as an “in-person telecast,” according to a report from Variety. Will the Oscars happen in 2021? The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences, which presents the Oscars, says it’s exploring how to hold an in-person ceremony in Los Angeles on 25 April 2021, two months later than normal. It’s also asked Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh to “re-envision” the event in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. ABC The Oscars air live on ABC — both television and streaming with a pre-show starting at 6:30pm EST. You can also tune in early for red carpet coverage from CNN or watch online at “Oscars All Access Live-Stream,” starting at 6:30pm EST on Twitter.

“Nomadland” has won nearly every major award this season, including top honors from the Producers Guild, the Directors Guild and the Golden Globes. By all accounts, this Frances McDormand road drama should be able to steamroll its way to the Oscars for best picture. Then again, “1917” took the same prizes last year and still lost at the Oscars to “Parasite.” Could “Nomadland” find its charmed voyage cut short, too?

Let’s look at the would-be insurgents. For many voters, “Promising Young Woman” is playing much like “Parasite” — it’s fresh and contemporary, tackles an important issue with a dark sense of humor, and ends in a way that demands conversation. There’s also “Minari,” which showed across-the-board strength similar to “Nomadland” and “Promising Young Woman”: In addition to nominations for best picture and directing, each of those three movies got nods for its screenplay, editing, and at least one member of its cast.

“The Trial of the Chicago 7” won the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild, but I’m still iffy on its best-picture chances: Aaron Sorkin couldn’t land a directing nomination, and the film isn’t assured of a win in any other category. (Only three films have ever won best picture without picking up another Oscar first, and the last one was 1935’s “Mutiny on the Bounty.”)

Best actor in a supporting role
Long-time working actor and Vietnam veteran Paul Raci is the wild card in this category, and not just because the 72-year-old is the only actor not playing a real-life figure. Leslie Odom Jr. plays singer Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami, while Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield may split the vote for fans of Judas and the Black Messiah. Kaluuya in particular has done well in other awards. The Academy loves a comic actor playing a straight role, which could help Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, but his turn in The Trial of the Chicago 7 is far from the flashiest in the shortlist.

Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7)
Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah)
Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night in Miami)
Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)
Lakeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah)
My money’s on: Leslie Odom Jr.

Best actress in a supporting role
Glenn Close is nominated for an eighth time, but reviews weren’t kind to Netflix’s rural drama Hillbilly Elegy. Olivia Colman won best actress two years ago for The Favorite and could win a second Oscar for a very different turn in harrowing drama The Father. Minari’s scene-stealing Yuh-jung Youn would be one of only a handful of actors to win an Oscar for a performance without much or any English on screen (along with the likes of Sophia Loren, Robert De Niro, Roberto Benigni, Benicio del Toro and Marion Cotillard). Meanwhile, Maria Bakalova certainly deserves credit for her bravery in the Borat sequel, particularly in a notorious scene where she comes face-to-face with Rudy Giuliani.
