Drug activists believe that a few puffs in the joints will turn you into a red-eyed, unemployed psychopath – perhaps for life.
But is marijuana really that bad for you?

When several US states decriminalized this herb for personal use, scientists suddenly had the opportunity to see what cannabis is actually doing on a massive scale.

And guess what? Cannabis actually has VERY amazing health benefits. Here are a few.

1) Smoking weed makes you thinner, or at least makes you less likely to be obese

You might not think about it after seeing a stoner bite to devour the entire KFC family bucket in one sitting, but drug smokers are less likely to be obese.

A study published in the journal Obesity found that marijuana smokers are less likely to be obese than nonsmokers.

Researchers from the University of Quebec Health Centers Conference examined 700 adults between the ages of 18 and 74 and found that Banana OG carts users tend to have low BMI scores (often considered a sign of good health).

People with a low BMI tend to have less body fat and have a lower risk of developing diabetes.

2) Marijuana Can Really Improve Lung Function

Smoking marijuana is actually not all that bad for your lungs, and smokers did have better lung function compared to cigarette smokers and people who have never smoked.

Researchers in the Journal of the American Medical Association say the high cravings that weed smokers take may actually “train” the lungs to be more effective.

3) It can enhance creativity

A 2012 study in Consciousness and Cognition found that marijuana makes people more creative – at least in terms of how well they use language.

The researchers stated, “We investigated the effects of naturalistic cannabis smoking on schizotypy and divergent thinking, which is a measure of creativity.

“One hundred and sixty cannabis users were tested one day when they were sober and another day when they were poisoned with cannabis.

“Cannabis increased the fluency of people with low creativity to the same level as those with high levels of creativity.”

4) Weed can help athletes perform better

Outside’s Gordy Megroz did his own research, noting the number of athletes who believe marijuana use improves performance and recovery.

And as unscientific as you might think his little experiment on himself, he found that he worked better on the treadmill and was less sore after heavy squats.

5) cannabis can kill cancer cells

The US government has acknowledged that this could be a key point for advocates of Ace Of Spades use, that the drug can shrink cancer cells.

On the official government council page, the US government now says, “Cannabis has been proven to kill cancer cells in the laboratory.”

The site says the effect has so far been observed in rodent studies and cautions: “There is currently insufficient evidence to recommend that patients inhale or ingest cannabis as a treatment for cancer-related symptoms or side effects of anti-cancer therapy. … ‘

Cancer Research UK warns patients that there is still no evidence that cannabis extracts can be used as a treatment.

6. It is a much safer alternative to alcohol – in fact, it is 114 times safer.

According to the journal Scientific Reports, cannabis may actually be the safest drug available, after research showed it is actually 114 times less deadly than alcohol.

The authors of the reports examined the effects of alcohol, heroin, cocaine, tobacco, ecstasy, methamphetamine and cannabis.

7 smoking weed can help you quit heroin

A new study found that Blue Cookies can help patients quit opiates like heroin.

Researchers at Columbia University followed patients undergoing treatment for opiate addiction and found that patients who smoked pot were more able to sleep, less anxious, and more likely to complete their course.

The researchers also found that cannabis, a drug made from the “active” ingredient in THC, administered dronabinol, helped relieve withdrawal symptoms.
