Every person is talented. Everyone can discover to sing, dance or varnish. There is not a single person who has not dreamed of being able to do something extraordinary deep down in his soul. And if you say that you cannot draw, you are deeply mistaken. Following our simple tips, you will soon learn how to draw and improve your skills in this great business! GO! 🙂

It’s never too late to start painting, and many successful and talented artists first took a brush in their hands already in adulthood. But, of course, it is more accessible to teach children anything, including 3d drawing. But, if your childhood acquaintance with painting was limited to art lessons in the third grade, then it doesn’t matter! You can start in your 20s, 30s, or 50s.

Don’t put off painting until “better times”!

You probably had such thoughts, and not only in the direction of creativity. However, there is no need to think that you need to wait for a sufficiently long period to draw. This may never happen.

It happens that you are waiting – vacation, summer when you know for sure that you have a lot of free time. And when it comes, you sit down with a blank sheet and understand that you are not ready; you do not know – what to do, where to start?

Therefore, it is necessary to do it in a micro-step, for a few minutes, but regularly. As a result, many, many small steps will accumulate.

The easiest and most exciting way to draw a little bit every day is to arrange a creative challenge for yourself. First, designate the number of days, no matter 20 or 200, the main thing is that you will draw all these days and become a habit.

Start with the simplest materials.

A common mistake of all beginners is buying expensive materials. The stereotype is that a masterpiece will immediately come out on paper for 3000 with a pencil for 1000, and there should be no mistake. And here it is, uncertainty and putting creativity on the back burner until you are confident in your skill. But how do you know your level if you haven’t started to practice?

You don’t need to get hung up on this; you need to master the simplest materials. Even the most straightforward watercolor paint or gouache will do 🙂

The study, explore, play, and not “create a masterpiece” – that’s what you need at the initial stage. “Creating a masterpiece” strains and discourages the creative impulse for a long time.

To start painting, you don’t need to buy expensive materials and wait for inspiration.

“What to draw?”

The beauty is all around, it is immense, and anything you want can become an exciting picture for you that you want to portray. For example, riding in transport – look around, think about what materials you would use to paint the image. You can even draw a coffee mug next to you – and it will be fine, if only because this is your image.

It would be best if you looked at reality: it is, in fact, much more prosperous, more complex, it has more colors, shades, subtleties, nuances. And the plot can often be found where it is not customary to look for “beautiful” – in an old fence, on a cracked multilayer wall, in an unfinished structure. Or a shadow fell suddenly, and it doesn’t look like anything at all: but it showed an incredible texture! Nature is much richer, much more interesting if you start looking at it not with your brain but from your sensory sensations.

Sketching from pictures, photos, video tutorials

This is not something taught in art schools, but it is also a practice, especially for beginners. This will help you get your hands on and understand the construction of objects.

To complete this stage, you need to forget what exactly your cool drawing. For example, if there is an apple in front of you in the picture. So do not think that your cool drawing a fruit, but copy the lines, shadows. Thus, your right hemisphere will turn on, which you now need much more than the left.

Life sketches

You are not yet available for work with nature. But start sketching, draw everything that you see around. Please pay attention to the proportions of the object and its location in space. Yes, you’re not making very great still, but the view at your first work. You will see progress!

Never stop

Not a single great artist said the phrase “I have reached perfection” because there is no limit to outline the maximum level of skill. Therefore, do not stop there and keep learning and working on yourself.

Read

Read not only specific books about cool drawing ideas but also art books. They will inspire you and develop your imagination. What could be better for finding a muse than immersion in a completely different world?

Hereabouts are some extra smart advice to assist you:

  1. Do not try to draw the whole work in one sitting. Cool drawing is a process. Outline the main idea of your work, and then gradually add more and more details to it.
  2. Do not criticize your work before you finish it. Otherwise, you may be disappointed in your strengths and give up your attempts to learn to draw.
  3. Make sure you have good lighting. There is nothing worse for an artist than poor lighting. If you cannot see, you cannot draw. If you don’t have enough daylight in your room, visit a store looking for a suitable daylight lamp.
  4. Sharpen your pencils sharply.
  5. Always take a sketch pad with you wherever you go. When you have a minute to spare, practice your cool drawings. It doesn’t matter if the object to draw is a lamppost or a trash can. The more you paint, the more observant you become.
  6. Never throw away your work. Instead, collect everything you paint in a portfolio. This is the best way to measure the progress of your cool drawing.
