Australia has always been a well-liked decision for people who wish to migrate to another country. The country has quite many positive factors such as a well-flourished economy which means it has more job opportunities for people living there. The country commits and stands on its words to provide a better quality of life and a multicultural society with peace and harmony.

It offers a permanent residency or PR visa to people planning to migrate to Australia which has a validity of five years. With the help of the PR Visa, you can move to Australia with your family members if you wish to. With that, you can also apply for its citizenship after living there in Australia for three years with a PR visa.

Cost of the Australian PR Visa

It follows a few steps of processing if you submit the application process for the PR visa from the General Skilled Migration program. It includes a skills assessment, English language test, medical test, police clearance, etc. Each of the steps has its own separate cost. The total amount of all these costs will give you the total PR visa cost along with its application fees.

Summary of costs in the PR application process:

The PR visa application starts with a Skills Assessment where your skills and qualifications are checked by an accreditation body run by the Australian Government. You’ll have to pay the Skills Assessment fees for this, which differs depending on the profession you have chosen.

The applicants need to prove their English skills by giving some of the Australian Government’s accredited English language exams. Those include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, etc. Again, its cost also differs based on the exam that you choose.

It requires state sponsorship if you apply for permanent Residency under Subclass Visa 190. This also makes you qualified for state nomination for your PR visa. State Sponsorship fees differ with each state, the average cost goes around AUD 300.

When you apply for the permanent resident visa, you and your dependents will also have to submit certificates for good health and character. For this, you will have to pay fees for a medical examination and a police clearance certificate. The cost of the police clearance certificate varies on the country you are from.

Variation in cost:

Please note that the PR visa application cost keeps changing sometimes. The cost is based on the date when the application is filed. If the cost of the application extends between the date of filing and the time it reaches the immigration department then the applicant will have to pay as per the new charges.

Total cost for the PR visa:

The total cost of your PR visa depends on the kind of visa you apply for. That includes its application fees, medical examination fees, English language test, health insurance, number of dependents who will be joining you, airfare to Australia, and other various costs.

As per the 189/290 visa, the tentative cost for PR Visa is as follows:

  • It costs the approximate of AUD $4,045 for the adults
  • It costs AUD 2,020 for a dependent who will be joining you (age 18+)
  • It costs the approximate of AUD 1,015 for a child joining you

Thus, the total cost for a family of two adults and one kid goes as AUD 7,080

Please note that you can make the payment for the same online with the help of your debit or credit card. The additional cost is charged for it which is mentioned there only when you are making the payment. Also, the amount that you pay is not refundable if your visa does not get accepted.
