Bail bonds are a topic that many people hear about in the news. Many times, when someone is arrested, they are freed on bond. However, how do bail bonds work? What exactly is the procedure? We’re going to take a look at the Redding bail bond process.

When a bail bondsman working with the agency sets the fee for a suspect to be released on bail, the fees are around 10% of the entire bail amount charged by the bondsman. This money is non-refundable, even if the case is dismissed after bail is paid.

The bondsman will take out a security against a defendant’s assets in order to meet the cost of bail. If there aren’t enough assets, the securities may be used against willing helpers, such as friends and relatives. When a security is taken out, the bondsman will usually want ten percent in cash, as well as a mortgage on their home equivalent to the whole amount owed in the bail bond.
