India, the second-largest populated country globally, has a population of 1.366 billion people (2019), with roughly 60% of people in 18 years to 65. Any program that needs to cover this section of people in India can mean major stress on public resources. And, if it is amid a pandemic, a notorious second and third wave impacting lives in this highly populated country, things can go awry.

The vaccine is the answer

Coronavirus vaccine has been touted as one of the best ways to fight the novel Covid-19 disease, creating havoc in the world for the past one and half years. With many countries almost ready to get back to their pre-Covid situations with the right vaccine policy, it is natural that the Indian government too launched the Covid vaccine, in phases, for the country’s residents. The major chunk of the population that is people aged between 18 years to 45 years, were intended to be covered in the fourth phase starting 1st May. CoWin and Aarogya Setu‘s official apps were open to Covid-19 vaccine registrations from 28th April 2021.

No system is infallible, and on the expected lines, it turned out that most people who tried to register or sign in for vaccination using the official apps failed to do so. It created more chaos simply because there were way too many people trying to sign in to get the vaccination slots on first priority.

FITPASS’s Vaccination Finder

Like many other progressive brands and platforms, the management at FITPASS, India’s leading fitness-based app, rose to the occasion to make a difference at this crucial juncture. The company launched its Vaccination Finder feature, enabled by the FITPASS app.

FITPASS Membership runs in millions – almost 5 million people are associated with the platform. The primary function of this high-end app is to make fitness more economical and convenient. Fitness is not a luxury but a necessity. Members can search for fitness centres near their location within minutes. As of now, about 4000+ fitness centres in 17+ cities are part of this growing network. It also has a couple of other add-on features, like the FITFEAST that helps members get personalized diet programs from top nutritionists. Then there is the FITCOACH that offers customised training plans under A.I led fitness trainer ARIA, and the FITPASS-TV that helps members workout individually or in groups, virtually under the supervision of an expert.

With such resources at hand, the platform can prove a harbinger in helping its members get the Covid vaccine fast. With this aim in mind, the app launched the Vaccination Finder, an extension of the high-tech app connected to the official CoWin App’s API. How does it work?

Using the Vaccination Finder feature, people who are eligible for vaccination can search for a vaccination centre near their location by entering the pin code, district, and age on FITPASS app or portal. Though they need to follow the official Covid vaccine registration process, they can use the Finder to look for available slots in the vaccination centre of their choice and book for the same, if available. If the slots are not available, the Finder registers their details and sends them an SMS on their registered number and an email on their registered email id about the availability of a slot.
