Changes made in the MAT syllabus over the past five years

2021 MAT syllabus

The MAT syllabus 2021has been sharply categorised into five major sections:

  1. Language comprehension: This section will include questions on synonyms, antonyms, para jumbles, idioms and phrases, word replacement, fills in the blanks, odd word out, reading and answering comprehension passage, etc.
  2. Mathematical skills: Topics like time and work, AP, GP, HP, probability, functions, graphs, profit, and loss are in this particular section.
  3. Data analysis and sufficiency: It includes topics like pie charts, Venn diagrams, data sufficiency, and so on.
  4. Indian and global environment: The students will have to answer questions related to subjects like entertainment, who’s who, monetary and fiscal tools, sports, politics, etc.
  5. Intelligence and critical reasoning: This time, there are more topics. Some of the new topics are fact-inference judgment, cubes, rows, etc.

2020 MAT syllabus

Last year too, the syllabus was divided into the five categories mentioned above. The total number of questions assigned in each section is 40.

  1. Language comprehension: This section included chapters like speech, synonyms, antonyms, verbs, nouns, adjectives, idioms and phrases, vocabulary, basic grammar, para jumble, fill in the blanks, etc.
  2. Mathematical skills: A total of 27 topics were there. Topics like Trigonometry, Set Theory, inequalities, surds and indices, the binomial theorem was also there.
  3. Data analysis and sufficiency: The topics of 2021, as well as 2020, have been kept the same.
  4. Indian and global environment: The 2020 syllabus was quite vast as it included 18 topics in total. Topics like books and authors, awards, and winners have not been added to MAT syllabus 2021.
  5. Intelligence and critical reasoning:  Candidates need to prepare for topics like the arrangement, calendars, series, puzzles, blood relations, etc. A total of 18 topics were there.

2019 MAT syllabus

The syllabus was the same, just like 2020. There are no significant changes had been made this year? The candidates of 2020, therefore find it quite easy to practice the sample papers of 2019 itself. The difficulty level of questions ranged from easy to moderate.

2018 MAT syllabus

The syllabus was not as vast as compared to the succeeding years. Language comprehension included topics like error spotting and correction, analogies, and so on. Indian and global environment section was hugely dependent on current affairs. The other three sections were relatively easier, as well.

2017 MAT syllabus

Sections like mathematical skills, data analysis and sufficiency, intelligence, and critical reasoning were relatively easy. The difficulty level, as well as the extent of the syllabus, was relatively less as compared to MAT syllabus 2021.

2016- 2015 MAT syllabus

No alterations in the syllabus had been done in these two years. The topics vary largely with the present-day syllabus.
