How To Remove Fluoride From Your Drinking Water

   Tap Water & Fluoride

Fluoride is a mineral found in drinking water. It is among the most commonly found minerals on earth, with one of its most common forms being calcium fluoride. Calcium fluoride is widely present in plants, soil, air and many foods. As such, it is no surprise that most drinking water will have traces of fluoride in it.

However, what may surprise you is that high concentrations of fluoride can be found in tap water without having anything to do with natural processes. This high fluoride concentration comes mainly from water fluoridation. In Singapore, fluoridation has been a requirement by the Ministry of Health since the 1950s as a way to prevent dental cavities.

Harmful Effects of Fluoride in Water

According to the Public Utilities Board (PUB) of Singapore, the fluoride present in our drinking water is within the Guidelines of Drinking-Water Quality set by the World Health Organization. But over time, consuming and having excess fluoride exposure can have adverse cognitive and endocrine effects.

   Dental Fluorosis

The biggest risk associated with excess fluoride exposure is fluorosis. Dental fluorosis causes the tooth enamel to experience discolouration, and in some cases, weaken and cause physical damage to the teeth.

   Skeletal Fluorosis

Skeletal fluorosis is a more severe form of fluorosis that impacts the bones. It results from fluoride accumulation in the bones over time. This disease causes the bone structure to change and the ligaments to calcify, leading to easier broken bones.

   Neurological Problems

As of 2021, there have been 72 human studies linking excess fluoride exposure with reduced intelligence. The studies also provide compelling evidence that high fluoride exposure during the early years of life can damage a child’s brain development.

   Additional Issues

Other harmful effects of excess fluoride exposure include; cardiovascular diseases like arteriosclerosis and high blood pressure, diabetes, and worse, cancer.

   Removing Fluoride from Water

Today, most developed nations no longer fluoride their water. Only 11 countries in the world have more than 50% of their population drinking fluoride water, with Singapore being among the few.

Fluoride is difficult to remove from tap water, as it does not evaporate or boil easily. Moreover, it does not help that 90% of water purifiers in the market are only able to remove a maximum of 10%-20% of fluoride in the water.

Thankfully, Coral Pure Natural’s Premium Water Purifiers can achieve 95-100% fluoride removal due to its unique 0.0001-micron filtration system. The fluoride removal water filter uses a reverse osmosis membrane that effectively removes harmful contaminants present in the water. This includes chemicals like chlorine, fluoride and sulphates.

Coral Pure Fluoride Removal Water Filters

Using the reverse osmosis process, Coral Pure Filtration removes fluoride and many other impurities much better than most common water filter brands. Find out more about how this enhanced water filtration technology can improve your health and give you a greater peace of mind over your drinking water quality.
