Over many years the technology behind the monitor has upgraded since it was first introduced. As we all know, we used cathode ray tube kinds of monitors on our computers. The technology there is very simple there. Electrons are ejected from a cathode tube and accelerated through a voltage. Some of these fast-moving electrons crash into the gas inside the tube, causing it to glow, which allows us to see the path of the beam. But now those technologies are obsolete. Today we see mostly two types of monitors. The IPS LCD and the Amoled. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. In this article, we will analyze which is better for what kind of work purpose.

The main difference between IPS LCD and AMOLED is the working process. In the AMOLED display for every dot of the picture, there are individual pixels made by 3 sub-pixels based on RGB. The AMOLED display contains an organic layer. The individual pixels show the complete picture on the screen.

On the other hand, the IPS LCD has a single layer of display that shows the picture. IPS monitors or “In-Plane Switching” monitors, leverage liquid crystals aligned in parallel to produce rich colors. IPS panels are defined by the shifting patterns of their liquid crystals. These monitors were designed to overcome the limitations of TN panels. The liquid crystal’s ability to shift horizontally creates better viewing angles.

Both AMOLED and IPS have disadvantages and advantages. The advantage of the AMOLED display is that it boosts the colors on the screen. The content is more contrasted. Also the color black on an AMOLED display is more clear than a normal IPS display. It is less power-consuming. The disadvantages are also here. The authentic color is not shown here, rather the color is more boosted. Hence, this display is not suitable for graphics designers.

The IPS display shows an authentic color. Also, the IPS display is more durable since it has no organic layer in it.  Any graphics designer can use an IPS display. But disadvantages are that it is more power-consuming. I personally use an IPS LCD panel for my computer. The monitor price in bd for IPS panels is cheaper than AMOLED here.
