What is Staircase Railing:-

A staircase railing is a barricade or a fencing boundary like structure that stops people from falling off the other side of the stair. It is strong enough to tolerate breakage if someone leans or falls on it. Staircase railings can be constructed out of various materials such as steel, wood aluminium etc and can be tailored in different styles.

The major purpose behind installing staircase railings is to prevent falls and hence caused injuries. The type of stair railing used plays a key role in determining the overall appearance of the staircase.

Types of Staircase Railings:-

The selection of material for stair railings depends on a variety of factors such as the environment of the staircase and the overall look desired by the customer. Metals, such as steel, aluminium and wrought iron, are the most widely used choices for commercial and residential purposes. Wood is an ideal choice for all classic and contemporary lovers. However, steel and aluminium are more preferred choices for space where the staircase is located outside, as they cannot accumulate rust when coming in contact with moisture.

Steel

Steel is a popular material for both stair railings for commercial and industrial projects. For these spaces, galvanized steel coated with zinc is used to prevent corrosion. Further various other metals such as chromium, nickel, nitrogen and molybdenum are added to achieve corrosion-free steel.

Steel railings can also be used in a variety of spaces such as industrial, commercial and residential. When used in industrial environments, steel railings serve to be more ideal. In homes and offices, stainless steel railings provide a neat appearance.

Aluminium:-

Aluminium due to its lower density than other metals, makes it lightweight and is very reflective and hence a suitable material for stair railings. The best characteristic about aluminium is that it is naturally resistant to rust and corrosion

Aluminium stair railings are most used outside for entrances

Wrought iron railing applications

Wrought iron was often used to achieve a highly decorative effect and gained wide popularity during the 1800s.

Decorative wrought iron stair railings can be easily found in both residential and commercial spaces. In terms of residential properties, they are most popular in independent villas. They are popular for both interior and exterior coverage of the infrastructure. These staircase railings are both sophisticated and add a vibrant effect.
