Steve Wozniak has become the latest high-profile name to back Bitcoin. Wozniak has called the cryptocurrency ‘an amazing mathematical miracle’ and labeled it better than the Gold. Interestingly, Wozniak’s comments at a time when concerns have been raised around energy consumption by Bitcoin and it has been on a decline. Bitcoin has been struggling since mid-May when the entire crypto market crashes. There have been signs of recovery but, far and few.

“Gold is limited and you have to look for it; Bitcoin is the most amazing mathematical miracle. I do not invest in Bitcoin, but I believe in it for the future”, Wozniak said during his presentation at the Talent Land Jalisco 2021 technology conference.

This is the second time when Wozniak has backed Bitcoin at a public platform. Earlier in 2018, he had told CNBC that he hopes Bitcoin will become the single global currency.

“Bitcoin is mathematically defined, there is a certain quantity of bitcoin, there’s a way it’s distributed and it’s pure and there’s no human running, there’s no company running and it’s just growing and growing and surviving, that to me says something that is natural and nature is more important than all our human conventions,” he had said.

Wozniak’s second company after Apple, Efforce, is also a blockchain-based enterprise in the energy efficiency space. Efforce is a marketplace that enables companies to undertake energy efficiency measures at no cost so that they can invest their liquidity in more critical tasks.

Other high profile names to back Bitcoin are Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and Tesla’s Elon Musk. Dorsey had recently announced that his payment company, Square, would be building a physical wallet to store digital coins starting with Bitcoin. Musk, on the other hand, has had a love-hate relationship with Bicoin. He was one of the initial promoters but announced early May that Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin payments in exchange for the electric vehicles.
