1 – The criteria for selecting a travel backpack

Don’t choose a backpack lightly, Pakistan tour packages Here is the list of criteria to observe and test before you decide.

To your size and your size

Do not borrow the neighbor’s to save money if you are going on a long trip with a backpack!

  • Choose your bag according to the size of your back.
  • Take a precise dimension, adapted to your morphology and which has a serious adjustment system, you will adjust it much more easily!
  • Take a bag adapted to your body type and your muscles if you are a woman. Quite simply because the bag is more suited to your build, your hips and thus offers more comfort.

Of an adequate capacity

  • Provide a 50 to 80 L bag if you are going for more than 15 days.
  • Some models have an expandable size type “+ 10L”, the settings allow you to choose the configuration of your bag to increase its capacity.

With good ties

  • Make sure that your bag contains fastening straps at the hips and chest, but also load return straps to stick the bag as close as possible to the shoulders.

Comfortable and adjustable

  • With padded and quilted shoulder straps and waistband
  • With a good ventilation system if you sweat or travel in a hot country
  • With a not too rigid structure
  • To make your bag comfortable, learn how to adjust it correctly (straps, load reminders, lap belt, etc.). Here is a page that explains  how to adjust a backpack
  • Your backpack should be heavy on the hips, not pulling you back or hurting your shoulders. You must adjust all the adjustment points: height of the shoulder straps, chest strap, hip strap and load return straps.

With front opening

  • Trekking backpacks often have a sheath opening at the top. For travel, opt for a front opening, which will give you access to your belongings without having to empty the bag to reach the items stored at the bottom.

With compartments

  • With one or two small accessible pockets, (on the belt and with good closure)
  • With “stash” pockets that allow you to stash important documents
  • With a lower and upper compartment to distribute the weight well and store your things according to the accessibility of the compartments. Bags without compartments require you to take out everything in the bag to access the items in the back … avoid!

Resistant

  • Unless you are only leaving for a few days, try to have a bag that will not let go, so check two essential things:
  • Strong seams
  • Strong closure systems

Raincoat

  • With a folding protective cover in case of rain
  • If the model is supplied without protection, consider bringing a waterproof backpack cover

Secured

  • With double zippers to be able to hang a padlock like  this one  (essential for a backpacker trip)
  • Do not hesitate to bring a  PacSafe , (also available for small bags  ). Very dissuasive, avoids wandering hands when your bag is piled in a hold or other place of transit.

Compactable

  • With the side and top straps allowing both to compress the bag but also to slide in it jacket, sleeping bag or other when the bag is very loaded.

Light

  • Pay attention to the weight of the empty backpack! The most comfortable and the largest bags are the heaviest.
  • An empty 60L bag can weigh almost 2 kilos!

2 – Which model of backpack to choose?

A backpack is chosen with care and you generally have to invest more than 200 € for a bag of more than 60 liters for a quality that holds the road, supports heavy loads while remaining comfortable, Chitral Tours Packages is resistant to bad weather and especially to the duration. ! Don’t be too stingy because a good bag can make walking very pleasant. An unsuitable bag can really ruin the trip … It’s an expense you won’t regret because it’s your number 1 companion on the road and will become your best friend.

The benchmark for travel backpack

If you need to buy one now, want to go for a safe bet and don’t have time to go to a store to try it out, you can buy the following models with your eyes closed.

The price is justified because it is perfectly solid and equipped and above all this backpack will probably last a lifetime!

The Millet Ubic  is suitable for traveling or hiking, it opens with several entrances for easy access to all the contents of the bag. Above all, it has a very high resistance to abrasion and tearing.

The reference for trekking backpack: The Deuter Air Contact

If your mode of travel is rather sporty and you will use it primarily for trekking and long hikes, the best model is once again from Deuter. The “air contact” range meets all the expectations of walkers for whom the priority will be a light, ultra comfortable and antiperspirant bag. This bag was awarded the “incredibles” label in 2017!

For men, the ideal model is the  Deuter air contact 65 + 10 L , while women will opt for a more streamlined model, the  Deuter air contact Slim 60 + 10 L

The cheapest backpack: Gonex

If you do not have the necessary budget to equip yourself with a Deuter bag and your main criterion is the low price, here is a model that will help you out. It all depends on the length of your trip and how much you walk with a pack on your back!

For a small price, I suggest you opt for the  Mountaintop 60 L ,. The main difference with a brand like Deuter lies in the ability to adjust less closely to the shape of the body. The strength of the frame is not as sturdy as at Deuter, which may not balance heavy loads. In addition, fabric and seams have a risk of failing if the load is too heavy as well. At this price, the bag will not last you a lifetime but it is a correct option for your first trip, at a price that defies all competition.

If you go for a long time and plan to carry a heavy load for the long haul, opt for a high-end bag instead because if it lets you loose on the road, it can really ruin the trip, I have experienced it. and a loose strap is anxiety …

What about Quechua backpacks?

I do not offer a backpack from the Quechua range, the famous Decathlon brand. Their small-capacity backpacks are very correct but for large volumes (over 50 liters), the prices remain high for lower quality and very questionable comfort.

Having tested two of them, I am not convinced by the materials (breathable) nor by their comfort (I have never found a model that really suits me) or their strength. The seams are too weak, the chest strap of my bag gave out after a few months … For a small price, I therefore prefer to direct you to the Mountaintop model above.
