When you’re moving house, there are a million things to be packed and shipped. Some are small, some are big, some are fragile while others are sturdier. In order for your move to be stress free and for all your belongings to reach the destination in one piece, they need to be packed properly. You’ll need a variety of packaging supplies. Here are a few.

Bubble Wrap

Crockery, mirrors, glassware… when you move, you will have a lot of fragile items on your packing list. These items need to be packed carefully so that they are buffered from shocks and jolts. Bubble wrap is a great material for this. Bubble wrap is available in wide sheets and can be cut to any size. The only down side to using bubble wrap to pack fragile items is that the material is non-biodegradable.

Honeycomb-Cut Paper

If you’re worried about your carbon footprint, honeycomb cut paper is a great alternative to bubble wrap. As the name suggests, the paper is cut in a honey comb pattern that allows the paper to expand and contour itself to the product being packed. It’s available in rolls that can be cut to size. The best part – it’s recyclable and bio degradable.

Corrugate Sheets and Boxes

Corrugate is another popular material in the packaging supplies used by professionals. Corrugate is used mostly in two-forms- flexible corrugate sheets and corrugate boxes. The corrugate sheets can be described as a crimped layer backed by a sheet of paper. For the boxes, the corrugate sheets are layered together for extra strength. These boxes are available in a range of sizes. They’re an excellent way to keep your packing organized. You can use corrugate paper to wrap irregular shaped objects and then place them in the boxes. There are many different types of stuffing material you can use to hold the corrugate wrapped pieces in place.

Stuffing Material

When it comes to fragile articles with irregular shapes, sometimes, simply wrapping it in bubble wrap or honey comb paper and placing it in a carton is not enough to keep it safe. If the package moves within the carton, it may still break. To protect it further, you should pack in the empty spaces within the box with stuffing. This could be as simple as crushed newspaper. Else, you could use thermacol balls or sealed packets filled with air.

Wooden Crates

For expensive electronics like your television and kitchen appliances, a cardboard carton may not be enough. To protect it, you need to put the carton the electronics are packed in inside a wooden crate. Wooden crates should be custom made to each carton size so that it has a close fit. If you have two identical cartons, you could use a single crate to hold both as long as they are a tight fit.
