Part Number: UDN2981A

Description

Suitable for applications where high-side switching is preferred, and logic and load grounds need to be kept separate, these devices have input supply voltages of 50 V and output currents of -500 mA. For connecting between low-level logic and high-current loads, These 8-channel source drivers are quite handy. Examples of typical loads include relay, solenoids, lights, stepper and/or servo motors, print hammers, and LEDs.

All electronic equipment may be used with TTL, Schottky TTL, DTL, and 5 V CMOS systems. The UDN2981A, UDN2982A, and A2982SLW share the same electrical compatibility, are capable of 50 V in maximum output voltage, and can work at a minimum of 5 V. In this line of devices, all of the inputs and outputs include current limiting resistors and output transient suppression diodes, and are actuated by an active high input.

This 18-lead plastic dual in-line package with copper lead frame can be identified by the ‘A’ suffix (all devices). At an ambient temperature of 50°C and a supply voltage of 15 V, these devices will continuously supply 120 mA to each of the eight outputs under typical operating conditions.

An 18-lead surface-mount wide-body SOIC package is indicated by the ‘LW’ suffix (UDN2982LW only); A2982SLW is available in a 20-lead wide-body SOIC package with enhanced thermal performance.

In addition to their operation at room temperature, the UDN2982A, UDN2982LW, and A2982SLW drivers are also available for use throughout a wide temperature range of -40°C. To alter the prefix or suffix, replace ‘UDN’ with ‘UDQ’ or ‘SLW’ with ‘ELW.’ These are lead-free packages with 100% matte tin leadframe plating and have variants that can be marked with the suffix ‘-T’.
