How you can visually inspect your Mil-Spec Paracord.

For you to easily make these inspections visually, you can cut out from an end of your Mil-Spec Paracord using either very sharp scissors or knife and then pull it all back through the mantle or the outer extremely protective sheath of your Mil-Spec Paracord. This would show you several inner strands, and then you can see the Mil-Spec Paracord kern.

Things you can Inspect with your Naked Eyes

The things we would list below could be observed with your eyes. You should ensure that you can see all of the requirements. In the absence of these requirements, your cord might be commercial instead of Mil-Spec Paracord.

  1. Nine Or Eight Or Seven Inner Strands

You need to settle and then count out the numbers of the strands inside the paracord. The MilSpec C-5040H needs you to know that the type 3 Paracord needs to have around seven or eight or nine strands. If the paracord you have has six or fewer inner strands, that isn’t a Mil-Spec Paracord.

  1. If It Has Three Strands Inside

Like we stated earlier, you need to count the number of strands available inside. It needs to all be made up of around three strands available inside. There are commercial Paracords that more often than not have many other inner strands that could be made up using just two strands inside. If the paracord you have does not reach three strands inside, it is not a Mil-Spec Paracord.

  1. If The Strands Are Twisted

It would be best to observe the inside and inner strands that your paracord has gently and closely. All your inside and inner strands need to be appropriately twisted for them to follow the C-5040H MilSpec specifications. Various Paracords are commercials that all have straight instead of twisted inside or /and inner strands. Even some combinations of twisted and straight strands would still be commercial paracord. If you have the strands of your paracord in straight forms, then that paracord is not following the specifications of the MilSpec.

  1. Look At The Color Of The Manufactures Id Marker Strand

When inspecting, you need to look gently and closely. Make sure that the inner strands of your paracord have been inspected closely. This strand is also known as the colored marker strand or the manufacturer’s ID Strand. It is also known as an ID marker strand. Mil-Spec Paracord has specifications that need all manufacturers of authentic Mil-Spec Paracords to have that colored twisted identification from the producer in all their different types of Paracords.

So there we have it. Using all of these techniques to inspect the Mil-Spec Paracord, you can know if you purchased an authentic Mil Spec Paracord or a commercial Paracord. You can’t go wrong with these tough visual forms of inspection.
