Corrosion Resistance

Regular ferritic or austenitic stainless steels are about half as strong as duplex stainless steels.

Ductility and Toughness

Although they are not as soft as austenitic grades, duplex stainless steel can be tougher and more ductile than ferritic grades.

Weld Ability

The varieties of duplex stainless steel flanges often have good weld ability. Despite the fact that they are more difficult to weld than austenitic grades, you can still use the standard welding processes.

Heat Resistance

Compared to austenitic steel, duplex stainless steel has a lower thermal expansion and a higher heat conductivity. Duplex grades are easily usable down to at least -50C in temperature. They are more ductile than ferritic steel grades at low temperatures.


Flanges made of duplex stainless steel contain less nickel and molybdenum than austenitic counterparts. Due to the decreased alloying concentration, duplex stainless steel is more affordable. Additionally, due to the improved yield strength of duplex stainless steel, you may be able to lower the thickness of the material. Products that are thinner may be able to shed a lot of weight.
