Language skills at a community level are evaluated by the Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test. The applicants who wish to submit a point-based visa application typically take the CCL test. Candidates who pass the NAATI CCL exam receive five points toward either the Skilled Independent visa, Skilled Nominated visa, or Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa. Tests for the NAATI CCL are offered online, Monday through Friday. Two recordings of dialogue make up the test. Each dialogue depicts a conversation between a native speaker of a LOTE and a native speaker of English. Each discussion contains about 300 words, roughly half of which are in English and the other half in the LOTE. The dialogues are broken up into 35-word or fewer sections. The requirements to take the test: A PC, laptop, or tablet with a camera and microphone is required for candidates. Distractions, background noise, and other individuals should not be present in the testing space. Additionally, the surroundings will be examined before the test. During the NAATI CCL Exam, all other devices should be turned off. Candidates must present identification, such as a passport or driver’s license. The procedure will be captured on video. All applicants should log in promptly; those who arrive after the scheduled time will not be tested. Equipment is necessary: Internet browser on a computer or laptop, typically Microsoft Edge or Chrome. Download the Microsoft Teams app today. There is no need to open a new account. Working headphones are also necessary.

There are two dialogues in the CCL Test, each worth 45 points. A candidate must receive at least 29 marks in each dialogue and a total of 63 out of 90 to pass the test. Pass: 63 marks or higher (out of 90). Marginal fail: between 58 and 62.5. Clear fail less than 58(out of 90).

The NAATI CCL exam will yield the following results: If a candidate receives a score of 23 out of 45 in Dialogue 1, 41 out of 45 in Dialogue 2, and 64 out of 90 overall, the result will be a CLEAR FAIL because the candidate did not receive the minimum score in Dialogue 1. (i.e. 29).
