After a homeowner suffers a covered loss, insurance claims can be filed. These claims are filed with the homeowners insurance company. 3. Homeowner Assistance Program (HAP).
Some insurance companies offer a program called the Homeowner Assistance Program (or HAP). HAP offers assistance to homeowners who have suffered a covered loss. To receive help filing a claim homeowners must agree to certain conditions. They must have a certain amount of property insurance. They must also not make any changes on their property without permission from their insurance company.
4. How to file a claim
A homeowner should contact their insurance company after suffering a covered loss. The homeowner will need to give details about the loss. The homeowner should keep receipts that document the costs of repairs and replacements. Photographs of the damaged areas should be taken by the homeowner. He or she should also take photos of any damaged areas and prepare a list to be submitted to the insurance company within 30 day of the loss.
5. Different types of coverage
Many types of loss are covered by homeowner’s insurance policies. A policy may cover the following:
* Replacement costs–If something is stolen or damaged, your insurance company will cover the cost of replacing it.
* Building repair–Your insurer will cover repairs to drywall, carpeting and appliances.
