Haridwar in northern India is a tiny city that lies on the banks du the Ganges River. Due to its proximity of the Himalayas (and its many Hindu Temples), Haridwar is a very popular tourist destination. Every day, hundreds of pilgrims flock to Haridwar to soak in the holy river. This is believed to purify them of all sins. Har Ki Pauri Ghat is also located in the city. Hindus believe that Lord Vishnu ascended to earth from there. It is easy to see why Haridwar has become such a popular destination with both Indian and foreign tourists.
