Gianpietro Benedetti serves as the Chairman of Danieli Group, a prominent global industrial machinery manufacturer headquartered in Buttrio, Italy. His journey with the company began as an engineer, and through dedication and competence, he advanced to roles of higher responsibility. After completing his Secondary School Diploma at A. Malignani Technical High School in Udine, he embarked on his career journey. In 1961, he joined Danieli Group as a Design Engineer. Demonstrating his capabilities, he earned the role of Manager for the Rolling Mill Process and Roll Pass Design offices in 1968. His career within the company evolved as he assumed various leadership positions. He was appointed Co-Chief Executive Officer in 1986 and became General Manager in 1991. Since 1999, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Group. In September 2017, Gianpietro Benedetti assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Board at Danieli Group. An influential figure within the company, he not only preserved the corporate legacy but also steered a transformative process that laid the foundation for sustained growth and innovation. Among his present professional positions, he has also held the role of President for the “ITS – Technical Secondary School – New Made-in-Italy Technologies, Mechanical and Aeronautics Section” of Udine, Italy since 2010.

In addition to his professional roles at Danieli Group, Gianpietro Benedetti has also held significant positions beyond the company. He served on the Board of Directors of Friuladria Bank – Intesa BCI Group from 1994 to 2004 and later on the Board of Directors of Friuladria Bank – Crédit Agricole Group from 2013 to 2018. His commitment to innovation and the industry has earned him numerous accolades. He has been awarded honorary degrees from three different universities: in 2000, a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Trieste; in 2006, a degree in Management Engineering from the University of Udine; and in 2018, an M.B.A. in International Business from the MIB School of Management in Trieste. In June 2006, he was honored as a Knight of the Order of Merit for Labor by the National Order of Chivalry, recognizing his dedicated service to the Italian Republic. Additionally, in 2018, he received the Tadeusz Sendzimir Memorial Medal from the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). Gianpietro Benedetti’s contributions extend beyond awards. In addition to the MI.DA® Micromill, he holds several patents for steelmaking machines and processes, with more than 80 inventions registered under his name.
