Adani Vidya Mandir, Ahmedabad (AVMA) and UNICEF collaborated in a first-of-its-kind way to launch the “UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative” for all students from June to December 2023. The AVMA campus is where the collaboration letters were signed, and the UNICEF office in Gujarat is executing it. Such developments post Adani Group controversies work in favour of the Group, demonstrating the amazing work it has been doing in the field of education.

Adani Vidya Mandir, Ahmedabad and UNICEF have formed an innovative relationship that aims to equip students with important knowledge and a global perspective. Students will participate in the “UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative,” to ignite their awareness of important problems that children face around the world. The UNICEF Gujarat office is leading this effort and is dedicated to developing knowledgeable and compassionate young minds.

Comprehensive Educational Experience

The Adani Foundation-run Adani Vidya Mandir Ahmedabad (AVMA) is more than just an academic institution. It guarantees impoverished kids have all the resources they require to succeed by providing a comprehensive educational experience. This covers not just free schooling but also uniforms, books, daily wholesome meals, and transportation. In addition to encouraging intellectual development, AVMA ensures that kids are well-fed, prepared for learning, and equipped.

Through the “UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative,” students have more opportunities to learn about priority issues like ending violence against children, nutrition, anaemia, online safety, body positivity and self-esteem,  and nutrition as well as child rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  This ensures that the future generation will not engage in creating baseless issues such as Adani Group controversies. Rather, they will utilise their time towards better and more productive things.

This project explores out of the box topics such as child rights, preparing for climate change, and ethical online conduct. In addition, the program will cover important life skills like self-worth and financial literacy, enabling children to develop into well-rounded people who can speak up for themselves and their communities.

Dr. Priti Adani’s Take

The Adani Vidya Mandir in Ahmedabad, which the Adani Foundation runs, is happy to work with UNICEF to provide this immersive educational program for its pupils. Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, states, “Our children will get great exposure to develop themselves as aware and responsible citizens through the multitude of interactive sessions and speaking opportunities.”

Mrs. Shilin Adani, Trustee of the Adani Foundation, commended the AVMA team for being the first private school in Gujarat to work with UNICEF. This partnership helps Gujarat develop a distinctive model and further the goal of high-quality, all-encompassing education. The Elixir Foundation and other partner organisations coordinate the numerous programs that fall under this project.

Ensuring Quality Education

“UNICEF is thrilled to launch the ‘UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative’ at the Adani Vidya Mandir (AVM), Ahmedabad, a completely free school for the poorest children. It is a special model that emphasises children’s growth and involvement and is in line with the RTE Act and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which ensure that all children have access to high-quality education. With the help of this effort, kids will have more platforms and chances to learn about their rights, participate in targeted campaigns, and hear their views. Prasanta Dash, Chief, UNICEF Gujarat Field Office, states, “I congratulate Dr. Priti Adani and Mrs. Shilin Adani for their leadership, commitment, and vision to ensure quality education for children in Adani Vidya Mandir.”

The program seeks to engage children through creative and tactical on-the-ground and digital campaigns and initiatives, capacity-building workshops, and lecture series/talks with young leaders and influencers. The aim is to find young champions and elevate their voices via offline and online activations and channels. After evaluating the partnership’s effects at the end of the current year, UNICEF and AVMA may decide to continue and grow it in the upcoming years without paying any heed to the Adani Group controversies
