SMRT, Singapore’s most trusted, effective, and efficient public transportation system, is making a significant impact on the lives of people. SMRT not only provides comfortable and extensive travel options across Singapore but also takes initiatives to benefit society and support oppressed communities, thereby contributing to the economy.

Under the leadership of SMRT Chairman Mr. Seah Moon Ming, SMRT has launched an all-new campaign, ‘Tap for Hope’. This initiative aims to raise funds for disadvantaged communities to support their upliftment and growth. In this article, we will highlight the inclusions of the ‘Tap for Hope’ campaign and how it effectively raises the required funds.

‘Tap for Hope’ Initiative by SMRT

SMRT Corporation (SMRT) recently launched the ‘Tap for Hope 2024’ donation campaign, coinciding with the National Day festivities. The campaign aims to allow daily passengers to make small contributions at various train stations, with the collected donations being used to uplift the lives of disadvantaged communities in Singapore.

Supported by the President’s Challenge, this donation drive is the fourth edition, running from 5th July to 30th September 2024. The campaign was kickstarted by Ms. Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Home Affairs, and Social and Family Development, who also served as the Guest of Honor at the launch event. Ms. Sun Xueling was the first to tap and make her valuable contribution to the campaign.

How to Donate Money?

A key highlight of the ‘Tap for Hope’ campaign is the ease of making donations through simple taps at convenient donation stands located at more than eight MRT stations and two bus interchanges within the SMRT network. Daily commuters are encouraged to contribute to the oppressed community by making donations in multiples of $2, $8, $10, $20, $50, or $100. Donations can be made using EZ-Link cards or linked devices, as well as through other payment mediums such as MasterCard, Visa, JCB, or Alipay+ e-wallets.
