Set In the heart of Himachal Pradesh where the skies are welcomed by paragliders and the mountains play old songs I’ve found my house at Bunksters — a backpackers hostel in Bir Billing. What started as a practical job to work in hospitality has become one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done — a journey of stories, connections and spiritual growth.

Each morning is a new beginning here. I wake up with the mist swirling over the Dhauladhar ranges and a sense of elation. Working at this property , meeting people from all over the world, catering their needs, is not just a job. It is about creating a space where tourists feel at home and in return they share a glimpse of their worlds for a while.

And the stories! From wanderers, vagabonds, globetrotters trying to find themselves after quitting their corporate jobs, to friends who found each other on a trek and never looked back — The common area in the Bunksters is always lively with stories, laughter and sometimes even a bit of shared silence around the bonfire.

When I’m not working, I’m out exploring — hiking through the beautiful forest trails to enjoying delicacies a at hidden Tibetan cafés around or simply wandering about the peaceful monasteries The sunsets at the landing site here are picturesque, painting the sky in pastels as paragliders drift through the air like colorful birds.

Every day is different, and that’s the beauty of Bir. One day I’m sharing music with a backpacker on, the next I’m being taught how to bring method into the madness. This place reminds me that the world is small, warm, and full of wonder.

So, if you ever happen to be walking around here and trying to heal your soul, drop by and say hello. Let’s exchange stories, sip coffee, and admire the mountains together. I’ll most likely be at the reception with a notebook and a hundred stories to share.

Come be a part of this journey where we share more smiles than sorrows. See you at The Bunksters!
