IELTS test is mainly on assessing Advance English so vocabulary plays 25% on the scores which you get in all 4 modules. Working on vocabulary means that the students have to be aware of regular words with different portrayal that means we need a definite knowledge of how to use and where to use them in a sentence whether it is for writing, listening, reading even for IELTS speaking practices as well. We may outweigh them sometimes then it might result in getting stuck with the words or may end with redundancy in speaking or writing.

How can we work on it?

Asking yourself is the key to get success so, raise questions to yourself and see whether you are able to understand new words in the passages, in the recorded files or while reading books etc. Then work on the below points to comprehend better.

  • We can improve on it by practicing more on synonyms, Adjectives, Adverbs, or Verbs in Complex sentences.
  •  Make it a habit of learning a new word each day and practicing it in writing and speaking the sentences. Have a habit to jot them in a practice book.
  • This learning can happen when you listen to any music tracks or while watching English movies or by glancing on a paper as well.
  • Not once is enough but memorizing is most important so, try recollecting the words for every 5 to 7 days to have the grip on them.
