Introduction to WAEC

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is associate degree examination board established by law to work out the examinations needed within the public interest within the West African English-speaking countries, to conduct the exams and to award certificates corresponding to those of equivalent examining international authorities.

Why is WAEC necessary?

In area of accountability and assessment and efficiency of the WAEC, is an excellent and commendable example of shared governance of their trustee (JAMB) and their examination boards. It clearly defines what standards are acceptable for exams grades and when students are eligible to take the exam. Every student in order to seek admission in university or any African school is obliged to take the exam. These exams conducted every year are recognized internationally and are based on international standards. Students are required to take the exams to seek admission in universities.
