Lufthansa is one of the major airlines and like other airways it also uses a form of group boarding system. It is done to streamline the process of getting passengers onto the plane. The boarding groups and their orders are slightly different in the short and long flights. But the general structure is usual which prioritizes people with special needs, then premium cabins and then elite status members.  Let’s check other details as well:

How to Navigate Lufthansa Airlines Boarding Groups?

  • You just need to find your boarding group through the number at the highest priority and it is given on the printed boarding pass.
  • Then you need to be very careful about the announcements at the gate and have your documents handy.
  • You can also use quick boarding turnstiles that can help in scanning the boarding pass at the gate and speed up the process.
  • Don’t rush at the gate and wait for your turn and always be mindful of your carry-on as the overhead bin space is limited.

What about the Priority Boarding?

It takes place in the form of groupism-

  • Group one are the first class passengers and then HON circle members which is Lufthansa’s highest elite status amongst the Lufthansa Boarding Groups.
  • Group two is about business class passengers and senators which refers to a low tier elite status in the miles and more programs.
  • In the second group, the Star Alliance Gold card holders are also prioritized to send for the boarding and then the economy flex passengers on continental flights.

How the General Boarding Takes Place?

  • After priority boarding all the passengers are boarded based on their sitting arrangement and classes.
  • For the intercontinental flights,
    • Group three is about premium economy class passengers.
    • Group 4 is off economy class passengers with a window seat and companions.
    • Group 5 belongs to the boarding of economy class travellers with mid seats and people who are with them.
    • Group six is of the normal economy class with aisle seats.
  • For the continental flights,
    • Group 3 is of the economy class travellers who booked a window seat.
    • Group 4 is of economy class passengers with a middle seat and companions.
    • And group 5 is when the economy class passengers with an aisle seat board.
