Don’t let that recycle symbol under the bottle fool you. Not all plastics with a RIC symbol are recyclable. They are Resin Identification Codes (RICs), and the only information they spread is, what type of plastic the packaging is made out of.

As a rule of thumb, numbers 1, 2, and 5 are usually be placed in a recycling bin.  4, 6, and 7 usually shouldn’t be. It’s critical to do your homework and look for these codes on your products to verify that you’re recycling them correctly, as one incorrect product can send a whole truckload of perfectly good recycling to the landfill!

7. Other plastics
