Shivani is a twenty year old girl living in Delhi, India..she is about to complete her Bachelor’s degree  and like every student, she is worried about her future..she is contemplating about her future as to what she should pursue in order to be successful in life. She decided to consult a career counsellor in order to get options for herself because she was super confused as to which direction she should head. The career counsellor gave her the following options

  1. A master’s degree: The counsellor suggested Shivani to pursue a master’s degree..but Shivani knew that she had not bagged enough marks to pursue the degree from the university she wanted to do masters from. Unfortunately, she missed the chance by just 1.5%.
  2. A professional degree: The counsellor presented Shivani with an option of pursuing a professional degree. Shivani did not agree to this because she was not interested in pursuing a professional degree as it was boring and of practically no use for her.
  3. A job: The counsellor suggested Shivani to start working in a company to gain some experience for herself..she said that exposure and experience would take her ahead in life if she chooses to join a company or a firm. Shivani disagreed with this proposal because she wanted to further pursue her studies..job was not an option yet.
  4. Business: The counsellor suggested her to pursue her passion and build a business out of it. Shivani was an amazing cook and she loved cooking..so, the counsellor suggested opening up a kitchen or a restaurant for herself so that she could turn her passion into a profession. But, Shivani denied this idea because she said that she cooks to relax herself and turning it into a profession would mean that she had to pursue it daily and that too, under a lot of  pressure. She blatantly turned down this offer and asked the counselor to proceed.
  5. Foreign land: The counsellor suggested Shivani to study a 1 year diploma course in Canada in a famous university..after which she can settle down there and do an appropriate job. The counsellor proposed to Shivani to settle down there and take her parents there once she settles down.Shivani absolutely loved this idea..she was over the moon to even imagine herself in a beautiful country like Canada. The counselor suggested to her some universities that she could apply to and asked her to start preparing for IELTS(an eligibility test for potential migrants) if she wished to go.

Shivani was fixated on the idea of shifting to Canada after she was done with her graduation..she even inquired about the document requirements from her cousins who were already settled there..she took her parent’s permission(which they readily gave on the condition of them accompanying her for two weeks to settle in). She prepared everything for herself..the documents..the eligibility test..the admission procedure..all was taken care of by her.

Shivani was just a bit confused about the fee structure of the college because the fee was mentioned in the western number system (which is different from Indian number system)..she kept putting off the fee submission date because of the confusion. She asked for her friend’s help for the same, who suggested she use the amount in words in Indian rupees converter..so, just as Shivani used the tool, she understood the difference of the number system and went ahead and paid the fees on the very last day. She was exhilarated after paying the fees and couldn’t contain her excitement.

Shivani after 3 months then flew to canada, studied and pursued a job simultaneously. She got promoted in her job, made a lot of fiends there and enjoyed her life in the wonderful country.
