Even if in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch life problems don’t really exist, knowing a few tips and tricks to optimize your journey and boost your progress can be very useful.

Life on your desert island in Animal crossing: New Horizons will essentially be about decorating your home, buying clothes, making your island enjoyable and meeting your friends (provided you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online). But some nasty surprises can still occur: being hunted by spiders or bees, lacking Nook Miles Ticketsor resources. Don’t worry, here are some valuable tips to make your trip much easier.

Save your Nook Miles

Nook Miles is a new currency introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that can be exchanged for all kinds of ACNH furniture and clothingitems or services of any kind. At the beginning you will earn Nook Miles very quickly which can cause a strong desire to buy anything. Keep your Miles and wait for the residents’ office to become a building (not a tent) which will unlock a catalogue of much more supplied and interesting products. Before that, spend your Nook Miles only to expand your inventory, buy airline tickets or pay off your loan to Tom Nook.

Change your appearance

If you’ve moved through the character creation box and you’re somewhat sorry for your clothing and appearance choices, don’t worry! Once in play, make yourself a mirror with only a few pieces of wood and an iron nugget. Place it in your home and fix your little look worries.

Go to Nook Stop every day

If you’re looking to make yourself a few Nook Miles easily, no worries. Go to nook stop every day and reap your daily reward. It’s not huge but it’s already that!

Catch tarantulas

If you’re desperately short of bells, wait until it’s dark and go in search of tarantulas on your island. They can sell 8,000 Animal Crossing New Horizons bells per unit, which is not insignificant! However be careful, if you make a false move, they will make you fall into the apples, followed by a direct return home.

Make tarantulas appear

Given the course of the tarantula, it may be interesting to promote its development. All you need to do is cut down all the trees, remove the stumps, pick all the flowers (be careful not to uproot them) and dump it all on the beach. Get rid of all the insects you find and come back after 7am. All you have to do is stock up on spiders!

Go back to a building to escape the wasps

If you stumble upon a swarm of wasps, there are several options available to you. Either you try to catch them before you get stung or, simply, run to a building on the island until they dissipate to avoid being disfigured. If you get bitten anyway, with weeds and a wasp nest you can make yourself a cure.

Find new ACNH DIY recipes

To find new recipes to make different objects and tools, go to the beaches of your island and look for bottles by the sea. Inside you will find new plans that will allow you, for example, to learn how to “craft” a table or even an umbrella.

Fly somewhere else

By buying a plane ticket at nook stop, you can go and visit a random desert island. In addition to collecting exotic resources and fruits not found on your island (resold at a gold price), you will also meet new characters. Go talk to them and invite them to your island. A few days later, Tom Nook will give you the mission to help him install your new inhabitants.

You can move your buildings later

If you’ve put the museum or store in a hurry and you’re starting to regret it, don’t worry. Once you have improved the residents’ office, you can ask Tom Nook, with a fee of course, to move the building of your choice to a more appropriate place.

Check out Tom Nook

Here’s what you can’t take in Animal Crossing. And especially if you don’t yet understand everything around you, why you can’t access certain parts of the island, why you can’t use the ladder yet, remember that the only way to unlock them is to progress in the game. If you’re not sure what to do or how to unblock a situation, don’t hesitate to go to Tom Nook and ask him what to do, he’ll explain how to progress.
