Empanelled hospitals have grown in popularity as a result of several new facilities made by the government under the ESIC programme for ESI claimants. ESI Beneficiaries will now be able to receive the proper medical treatment at the right time thanks to the introduction of these new modifications. That way, ESI claimants won’t have to suffer because they don’t have access to amenities at a time when they need them the most. It is the primary goal of ESI Empanelment to make sure that no ESI employee is denied access to the highest available medical treatment.

There are no major problems with the ESI hospitals and their work in the country. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Shri Harish Rawat, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, stated this.

The Minister noted that the public grievance redress mechanism receives complaints from time to time about the inadequacy of medical facilities. If an officer or employee is found to be engaging in an activity that violates the regulations, they are subject to disciplinary action. ESIC funds are only used to provide ESI benefits to ESI beneficiaries.

ESI benefits

Each of the ESI hospitals has a Hospital Development Committee that has been given appropriate administrative and financial authority to make decisions regarding the upgrading of the hospital’s amenities. ESIC has developed standards and guidelines for hospital and dispensary employees and equipment. Each state government receives rate contracts for allopathic and ayurvedic drugs from ESIC, which ensures a constant supply of medicines.

Hospital Partnership with ESIC

ESI Corporation is taking various efforts to improve the medical care facilities in ESI Hospitals. Companies such as ESI Corporation have their hospitals and clinics graded by reputable bodies. Hospitals and dispensaries will be ISO certified in the future.

In the event that there is no ESIC hospital or dispensary within a 10 km radius of their domicile, ESIC beneficiaries may seek medical care from adjacent ESIC empanelled hospitals.

Aiming to provide better medical services in the vicinity of beneficiaries’ residence, efforts are constantly being made to improve the Hospital Partnership with ESI medical care infrastructure in light of the substantial increase in the number of ESI beneficiaries following the expansion of the ESI Scheme into newer geographical areas.

ESIC empanelment

ESI beneficiaries who live in areas where ESIC’s Health Care infrastructure, such as a hospital, dispensary, or insured medical practitioner (IMP), does not exist can now get medical care services from nearby ESIC empaneled hospitals (pan-India) without the need for a referrer.

With the ESI e-Penchant Card/Health Passbook and Aadhar/Govt. issued Identity Card, ESI beneficiaries can visit the ESI empaneled hospital and receive cashless medical consultation for OPD services. Dispensary cum Branch Offices (DCBOs) or Regional Offices of ESIC, where DCBOs are not accessible, may pay such beneficiaries for drugs acquired during OPD consultation.

Within 24 hours, the empaneled hospital will get approval from the ESI approving authority using an online system and give cashless treatment to the beneficiary in circumstances when an investigation or admission for indoor treatment is required.
