Coronavirus is a family of viruses that have affected human beings and in recent research; it is found that animals are also affected by this deadly disease. Two main categories cause cold-like symptoms, i.e. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), these two symptoms are more severe. When the affected person coughs or sneezes, the droplets of saliva and discharge from the nose cause covid-19.

The symptoms of this deadly disease comprise mild to moderate respiratory virus infection. With the average medical history, the person can be treated normally, but with some illness, it becomes much more critical.

As the vaccinations continue their rollout, the following are some simple steps that you can take to prevent yourself and others from the spread of Novel Coronavirus.

  • Wash your hands regularly

It might sound odd sometimes, but practicing good hygiene is the most important habit nowadays to help prevent the transmission of coronavirus. We all know, the disease is highly contagious so it is highly advised to practice frequent hand washing with soaps and water for at least 20 seconds especially when you are in a public place, or you can use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

  • Wear a mask

Face masks have become a most important accessory nowadays for protecting yourself and others from the spread of Covid-19. The government recommends the people wear a face mask in public areas and reduce the risk of coronavirus.

  • Sneeze into your elbow

The World Health Organization suggests everyone cough or sneezes on your elbow or you may simply cover your mouth and nose with disposable napkin paper while having a cold, cough, or sneezing. Trapping your droplets into your napkin can reduce the risk of serving as a source of disease spread.

  • Use Disposed tissue paper

There is a chance of spread of the virus with the use of handkerchiefs, well in this critical time it’s better to discard handkerchiefs and use napkins and that too should be thrown away in the dustbin with a lid only.

  • Restrict your travel

Travelling can increase the chances of coronavirus and put you and others at risk. The best way to avoid the spread of disease is by not going out and maintaining social distancing. Don’t leave home unless and until you have an extremely urgent piece of work.

  • Maintain Social Distancing

The close person-to-person contact turns out to be the main source of transmission of the virus, the only key to remaining safe and mitigating the spread of this disease is Social Distancing. The Government of India, World Health Organization recommends we maintain a social distancing of approximately 6 feet in public and crowded areas. With more crowds such as hospitals, shops, and other areas, keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from others.

  • Look for Symptoms

The symptoms of infection for the coronavirus are slightly similar to respiratory virus infections, those who have experienced even the slightest of symptoms for example headache, fever, cold, flu, sore throat, cough, breathing problem should immediately consult a doctor. In an emergency, you can also contact the State Helpline Number or Ministry Health and Family Welfare 24*7.

  • Get vaccinated

The Covid-19 vaccines can help protect people from Covid-19. The vaccination is now available in India and one should get a vaccine and protect oneself from the risk of severe disease. Once a person took both vaccine doses, he will be able to protect one from getting infected.

People should follow these steps and with these steps, the spread of covid-19 can be controlled and brought down and this will help in flattening the curve.
