How Salasar Balaji was founded?

Nitin Pujari, the priest of Salasar Balaji Dham, says that the background of the creation in Salasar Balaji is fascinating. It is located in the village of Asota of Ladnun Tehsil within Nagaur district.

Legend says that one farmer was plowing his field in Asota When the blade of his plow struck a hard object. The farmer retrieved it and looked it up. It was a statue of stone from Balaji. The farmer then handed the idol over the idol to Thakur who was from Asota.

Balaji was in Thakur’s dreams and claimed that he appeared not for us but to Salasar. The dreamers should be brought to Salasar. This is why Thakur held the idol in a bullock carriage and directed the members of his court to Salasar.
