TOEFL Exam, i.e., Test of English as a Foreign Language Exam, examines the proficiency of the English language of non-native people who want to take up courses in the universities or colleges that use English as the medium of communication.

TOEFL Exam is a computer-based test that consists of 4 sections viz. ‘Listening’, ‘Reading’, ‘Writing’, and ‘Speaking’. Each section comprises 30 marks which means that the entire test carries 120 marks.
The TOEFL Exam is also conducted offline in selected places where there is no internet service. The candidates who want to take up this test can enroll on any day of the week and at any time as the registration is open on its official website 24/7.
Important Dates for TOEFL Exam in India
Candidates can appear for the TOEFL Exam 50 times a year. The candidates must remember that all the dates are not available for all the locations. Therefore, they will need to search their location first, select the months in which they want to participate in the exam, and then register accordingly.
To find TOEFL dates and centres in India, you will need to follow these steps:
1.Click on thishttps://v2.ereg.ets.org/ereg/public/workflowmanager/schlWorkflow?_p=TEL. Enter your city or location where you expect to find a test centre and select two months on which you can appear for the test. After that, click on the ‘Continue’ button. If you don’t find a test centre on the location you enter, you can search for those nearest to your locations.
2.On finding a suitable location, the website will automatically give the list of TOEFL dates available in the two months you select. For instance, we chose the location ‘Pune’ and the months of February and March for the TOEFL Exam, and it showed the results as per the below image.
3.Hereafter, you can click on the particular date you wish to take the exam, and information about the available test centres will be automatically updated. Here, we clicked on 27, and the test centres were shown as per the below image.

Details about the TOEFL iBT
ETS (Educational Testing Service) is the authoritative body that conducts the TOEFL Exam. Therefore, any updates regarding the TOEFL dates will be directly conveyed by ETS via their official website.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, many test centres of TOEFL were closed temporarily. ETS launched the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition to tackle this situation that allows candidates to appear for the TOEFL test from their home.
However, candidates need to ensure that they have all the equipment and devices necessary to complete this test. The requirements are pre-determined by ETS, and therefore, you can check them before opting for the home-based TOEFL Exam.
ETS has also uploaded several webinars on their official portal to train candidates about the home-based test features. This home edition would be operational till the test centres start functioning regularly as usual. Once the TOEFL Exam is conducted, the results will be sent to the candidates within 6 to 10 working days.
Note: TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition is not launched in Iran and China (Mainland) yet. Therefore, candidates living in these two countries might have to wait until the TOEFL iBT is launched there.
