10 Things To CPU Cooler

If you’re happy with the performance of your cooler boxed and don’t want it to be replaced, you can skip this section. It can be difficult to choose the right one among so many options and custom rigs. Here are some tips. We hope you find this helpful. CPU Cooler Provided By World Pc Tech

1. COMPATIBILITY – CPU SOCKETS

Compatibility with the socket type of the CPU is the main concern. To find out which socket type your motherboard or CPU is, please refer to the instructions on the packaging. It could be Intel Socket 775/1156/1366/1155 or AMD 754/939/940/AM2/AM3/FM1

2. COMPUTER CASE

It is important to ensure that the cooler can fit in the case. Check to make sure the heat sink fits in the case. The Coolermaster Hyper 612S CPU cooler will fit Thermaltake’s M9 Case – 163mm / 6.8” vs maximum 165mm / 6.25” with fan duct removed. Only 100mm / 3.9# with fanduct.

Consider whether your case has a fan duct or if it comes with a side panel fan. These should be removed or you can look for a low-profile CPU cooler. https://worldpctech.com/how-to-install-a-cpu-cooler/

The side panel can be removed if desired, but this is not recommended.

3. RAM HEAT SINKS

It might be worth considering the height of your ram heat sinks. If your memory is too high (e.g. G.Skill’s DDR3 Trident Series memory can sometimes hit the heat sink fan if it is too tall (e.g. These dimensions should be checked with the manual. Although it is difficult to believe that manufacturers will give this information by default, technical support can help or you can search the internet for it.

We are available to provide that data based on our burnt rig measurements.

This type of information is important for those with narrow CPU heat sinks. Arctic’s Freezer Xtreme and Xigmatek’s Gaia.

4. EXPERIENCE

It can sometimes be difficult to install the cooler, regardless of the user manual. This is because the mounting mechanism is complicated. Easy installation is the best way to go.

Although I don’t mean to discourage you, if you don’t know how to apply thermal compounds on a CPU, then you should only choose the simplest installation coolers that have pre-applied thermal compounds. It may not be the best option but it will do the job.

5. EXTERNAL SIGNS – The NUMBERS

These signs can help you know what to expect.

Packaging – Generally, the larger the better

Heat sink size and weight. Again, the larger the heat sink the better (cooling capability).

-number of heat pipes – The more heat pipes, the better the heat conductivity

-base – A copper base with a direct touch design is more efficient than other designs.

TDP is the Thermal Design Power, or maximum dissipation power before the CPU’s maximum junction temperature. The higher the value, the better. This parameter is not critical unless you are doing heavy burning or overclocking. https://worldpctech.com/how-to-install-a-cpu-cooler/

6. FAN(S), VENTILATION

A fan is an active CPU cooler. Here are some recommendations on what to look at when you get the fan(s).

  • The bigger the better (e.g. 140mm vs. 120mm, the bigger the better (e.g.Zalman’s CNPS12X triple fan)
  • The more flow, the better (CFM – cubic feet per minute or liters per minute; typically 20 to hundreds CFM), e.g. Delta Electronics case fan has over 240 CFM.
  • The higher the pressure, the better (mmH2O = millimeters of water @ 4degC; typically 0.1 to more than 2 ), e.g. Delta Electronics case fan with 27.48mm H2O
  • The PWM function is a popular method to control fans’ speed. After installation, the PWM function must be enabled in the BIOS settings. It is recommended that you choose a fan with PWM capability. It is easily identifiable by its 4-pin connector. Speed ranges from 0 to a few thousand RPM, e.g. Delta Electronics case fan, 5200 RPM.
  • It is possible to install a second fan in a push/pull configuration. However, it is not essential.

7. NOISE LEVEL

Passive cooling (e.g. PROLIMATECH Mega is the best option for silent systems, but as you can see, most CPU coolers have a fan(s) installed.

Before you buy, make sure to check the noise performance of your cooler’s fans. The fan will quitter if it is lower in dBa.

Sometimes manufacturers provide accessories to control or reduce fan speed manually via adjuster and/or adapters/resistors – choose these manufacturers/products. You can modify your rigs by yourself, but it is sometimes not possible to do so. Arctic’s Freezer Xtreme.

It is also worth checking if Anti-Vibe fan mountings come bundled. This is a highly valued addition.

8. ACCESSORIES

Except for a few things mentioned before (fan speed adapter/control-resistor, optional fan mounting mechanism, anti-vibe mountings, etc.) You would like to see more items bundled.

  • Good user manual
  • Thermolubly grease
  • If you love cool aesthetics, the LED fan is for you

9. WARRANTY

Everyone wants to be certain that they can replace the defective product as soon as possible. However, it is important to verify that the year numbers are accurate.

10. WHAT ARE YOU ABLE TO PAY?

Manufacturers offer many price options for one product type, so feel free to choose what you want. As with cars, the price of a car with more horsepower will go up exponentially. This is why we conclude that it’s not necessary to buy the most expensive hardware. Visit link
