New York City is home to one of the most famous skylines in the world. We wanted to share some of our favorite spots to view the Manhattan skyline and its iconic skyline. There are many great vantage points from both within and outside the city to admire the amazing Manhattan skyline, including the towering skyscrapers that rise to dizzying heights. You can also cruise the East River or Hudson while sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar, and explore the nearby waterfront parks.

New York City’s Best Views

Look no further if you are looking for the most spectacular views in New York.

One World Observatory

The One World Observatory, located on the 102nd Floor of One World Trade Center, offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the city. It can be seen from the One World Observatory, which is situated on the cloudy 102nd Floor. On clear days, you can see the Empire State Building, Rockefeller, Statue of Liberty, and the Hudson River.

The Edge

The Edge is one of New York’s most recent outdoor viewing platforms. It towers 100 feet above Manhattan’s sidewalks. It’s located at 30 Hudson Yards. The glass deck offers a spectacular view of all NYC attractions. To the South, you can see One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, and to the North, the Empire State Building, and Central Park.

The Summit, One Vanderbilt

The Summit One Vanderbilt, which rises to 1,200 feet above New York City’s Grand Central Station is the latest addition of New York’s sky-high observation decks. The Summit offers a sensory experience that is immersive and includes art installations, glass-enclosed elevators, and suspended glass ledges.

Levitation is our favorite part. It refers to two glass ledges that are suspended 1,063 feet above Madison Avenue. Air is the Summit’s all-immersive installation. You can see New York’s iconic buildings, including the Chrysler Building and Central Park.

Even if all the others have been there, this combination of amazing views, an Instagram worthy art installation, and suspended glass ledges means that you must add it to your bucket list.

4 | Brooklyn Bridge Park

The Brooklyn Bridge Park is a waterfront park that overlooks Lower Manhattan. It’s the ideal spot to enjoy a weekend picnic under the Brooklyn Bridge.

Old Pier 1 with its historic wooden pilings is a favorite spot for photos and views. Or, if you’re looking for fine dining at River Cafe, nestled under Brooklyn Bridge, reserve a window seat at River Cafe.

Helicopter

The best way to see a city as beautiful as New York City is from the sky. A helicopter ride provides a spectacular vantage point.

The breathtaking aerial views from the helicopter are amazing and provide a thrilling way to see the city. For the ultimate adrenalin rush, consider taking a helicopter ride if you feel brave.

Empire State Building

The Art Deco Empire State Building, a landmark of New York’s skyline, is a stunning spot to admire the beauty of New York City.

The 86th floor viewing platform, which is open air at night, is the highest in the city. Protective hatched fencing allows you to take great shots of the skyline. If you want even more spectacular views, the 102nd floor is also open to the public.

The Empire State Building offers one of the most spectacular views of NYC, with panoramic views of Central Park and Times Square, as well as Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Times Square, and The Statue of Liberty.

7 | Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian bridge, which links Manhattan and Brooklyn, offers panoramic views of Manhattan from the center to the middle of Manhattan.

You can see all the major New York buildings, including One World Trade in Midtown and Chrysler Buildings.

8 | Roosevelt Tram

The Roosevelt Island tram ride offers stunning views of Manhattan’s skyline and East River, and is only a swipe of a Metro Card. It also gives you the chance to ride a cable car for an exciting ride.

The Rooftop Bars

New York’s rooftop bars are a great place to be. There are many options that offer stunning views of Manhattan.

We’ll tell you a little secret! We love the Manhattan skyline from our favorite rooftops: Mr Purple on the LES and 1 Rooftop in Brooklyn. Le Bain, Top of the Standard and Top of the Standard are also great options. You can have a cocktail with one hand, and a great view of New York City through your camera the other.

10 | Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry runs between Manhattan and Staten Island. It offers spectacular views of Lower Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Statue of Liberty. The best part is that you don’t have to pay anything for the ferry ride!

You can also enjoy a sunset cruise that circles Manhattan. These cruises offer spectacular views and allow you to take in the sun as it sets on Manhattan.

Top of the Rock

The Rockefeller Centre is midtown Manhattan’s top spot for the best view of Central Park and midtown Manhattan.

The viewing platform at the 67th Floor is enclosed by glass panels. The views from the top of Manhattan are stunning, both north and south.

Bar SixtyFive at the Rainbow Room

The Rainbow Room is located on the Rockefeller Center’s 65th Floor. It can be used as a complement to Top of the Rock, or as a substitute if you want to enjoy cocktails with the views.

You can enjoy the stunning views from the outdoor terrace at the bar, which is cheaper than New York cocktails.

Liberty State Park

The Liberty State Park in Jersey City is located at the Hudson River’s mouth and offers spectacular views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

It is also home to The Empty Sky Memorial which is a poignant and beautiful memorial to New Jersey’s victims of September 2001 attacks on World Trade Center.

14 | R Lounge, Times Square

Times Square is often called the crossroads in the world because of its neon lights. The views from the top of Times Square are spectacular.

There are many hidden bars that offer cocktails above the chaos and crowds. Our favorite is the R Lounge at the Renaissance Hotel, which has amazing views of the bright lights in the city and yellow taxis.

Time Warner Building, Columbus Circle

The Time Warner Building offers one of the most spectacular views in New York. The Columbus Circle location perfectly captures the contrast between Central Park’s lush green and the tall skyscrapers that are synonymous with the city.

The 4th floor public space offers the best views. If you don’t feel like spending a lot, the Mandarin Oriental boasts incredible views from its public areas and park view rooms.

Although it was expensive, we enjoyed afternoon tea at The Aviary NYC. The Mandarin Oriental bar is located on the 35th Floor of the hotel. We were blown away by the panoramic views of Central Park, Columbus Circle, and other landmarks.

The Cantor Roof Garden Bar, Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met is New York’s most famous museum. A Martini at the rooftop bar will round out an afternoon of culture.

The magnificent views from Central Park are breathtaking and beautifully set against the Manhattan skyline.

And Finally…From the sky

Unexpected views can offer some of the most beautiful views. Remember to look out the window when you fly into or depart from the city. You can also arrange for a helicopter flight over the city if that sounds like something you would enjoy.

We were able to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of New York while we were departing Newark for a flight to London. The city sparkled in the dark beneath our wings.
